Birthday party for my younger daughter, which will be movie night at the house. They'll be watching "So I Married and Axe Murderer", which is one of my daughter's favs. Several boxes of crap associated with that theme (giant coffee cups and such) have recently arrived at the door. Should be fun.
While they're doing that, I'll be down in the basement hoping Cal has an injury-free game against Wagner.
flying back to VT early on Fri and driving to visit a friend in the Northeast Kindgom, which is the mostly-foresty area of VT in the NE part of the state. not a lot of people up there.
the friend of a friend has a sugaring shack and other fun things on his farm-like property.
i just realized that i could check out late (300p) and catch a 700p flight outta here. i'll get back late to BTV but at least it is an extra night at home.
the next day w/ 600a flight and 400a wakeup would have sucked anyways, so this is better
Spreadsheets for ballparks, countries, states and German Bundesländer. I logged stadiums #’s 30 and 31 in DC and Philly before the Syracuse game. I have 7 to go (I’m not counting Sacto or Vegas).
My math is easy for MLB stadiums because I've been to all of them. Me and JimmyChitwood finished the list a few years ago, before they ruined baseball and liberated me from having to care anymore. I'll never go to a game in Las Vegas - you can be sure of that.
For states, I'm only missing South Dakota. I'd have to think about countries.
there were some fun quirks about a Blue Jays game. This is probably the most spirited ballpark I have been too. 99 out 100 people have some Blue Jays gear
Before they build Skydome, they played in Expedition Stadium, which was where the current BMO Field is now. It was also a football/soccer stadium, so the infield was at one end and if you sat on the third base side, your seat was facing center field.
Skydome was an absolute marvel when it opened. And the Blue Jays were really good, then, so they had massive attendance - in 1993, they drew more than FOUR MILLION fans.
My first MLB game was at Exhibition stadium in 1985. I think we were on the first base line and our seats were definitely facing the outfield. It just happened to be the game where they beat the Yankees to clinch the AL East division for the first time in their history.
Whatever the event I'm at provides for lunch. Yesterday my friend took us to a place that specializes in Pacific Island foods. Pasifika. I had this amazing beef stew-ish dish. Best thing I've eaten all week.
Zesty Coco Beef (Tinak'tak)
Sirloin steak bits simmered in creamy coconut milk, tossed with fresh green beans and ripe tomatoes and finished with a bright hint of lemon zest. Served atop steamed rice
Conference lunch. The good at this conference has been particularly good. Each day people actually look forward to the food and spending time lingering over lunch
At least they have 4 days of rest, unlike NFL teams which would usually have 3 days of rest. Even so, 4 days of rest is criminal. A team shouldn't play a Thursday night game unless they had the previous Saturday (weekend) off.

Weekend plans? (i know it is only Thu)
Flying back to SFO on Sat afternoon. Going to miss Miata Reunion. Playing basketball on Sun,.

I really like that movie. Not necessarily a Mike Myers fan but there you go.

Toronto Blue Jays
aside from just remember, how do people keep track of what stadiums, states, countries they have been to.
seems like there should be an app for that ..

i am missing IA, NE, and SD. we should do a road trip!
in fact i have a good friend who just moved to IA for grad school so i am sure that is in my future.
My sister is in Iowa and I have cousins in Nebraska but not much to see in either of them. South Dakota at least has Mt Rushmore and the Badlands..
fun night at Rogers Center yesterday afternoon.

I noticed that, too, the last time I was there! It was the highest amount of branded gear worn per capita of any game I've ever been to.
they are 3rd or 4th in average attendance around 41k/game.
the Dodgers are about 49k, and SD and Yankees around 41k also.

I also remember Exhibition Stadium with the huge empty space past right field fence.
Exhibition was a pretty weird layout for baseball, yeah.

Maybe not as a weird as the L.A. Coliseum though.

I’m old enough to remember those times and “moon shots” to left field by Wally Moon.
My first MLB game was at Exhibition stadium in 1985. I think we were on the first base line and our seats were definitely facing the outfield. It just happened to be the game where they beat the Yankees to clinch the AL East division for the first time in their history.

(Costco) Roast chicken, thigh and drumstick.
My paternal grandmother called the drumstick "second joint". I can still hear her saying it in my mind.
Buffalo chicken salad. It's one of those creamy, meaty lunches that hides a massive calorie count behind the word "salad".
Conference lunch. The good at this conference has been particularly good. Each day people actually look forward to the food and spending time lingering over lunch
Pro
Lions @ Bills tonight. looks like a good early season matchup of good teams looking to get back to elite status.
both are 1-0 so i am guessing win-or-lose both teams will fine.
Other College
Cuse can't stop shooting themselves in the foot.
Fran Brown: "Hold my beer." Gets an unsportsman for cussing out refs.
Still can’t kick a field goal.
The dude was 12/12 before our game.
We broke him.
He must have displeased Oski- Lord of Dark and Light
Syracuse @ Pitt tonight. 7:30 ET.
Tight turnaround for our friends in 'cuse.

It's almost as if the conferences and broadcasting partners don't have the athletes' health and safety at top of mind...
Chasing the Almighty Dollar will obscure a lot of (important) things. Like the health of your performers.
Cal
Will be at Splash in Thrive City watching the Cal game before the Valkyries game in the evening.
GO BEARS!!
