Chad Powers season 2 (15/19 Hulu). Pretty good show that has Glen Powell pretend to be a different person and play college qb. After he blew a game as Russ Holliday by dropping the ball right before the end zone (where have we heard that before), he dresses up with face prosthetics and becomes Chad powers, leading the SEC bottom team South Georgia catfish to the playoffs. His love interest is played by Mark Sanchez's wife.
The Lioness season 3 (17/19 Paramount+). Season 3 ended with a cliffhanger. We see who has been pulling the strings. Will be interesting to see what season 4 brings, though it hasn't been renewed yet. It's a Taylor Sheridan show (Yellowstone, 1883, Tulsa King, etc) so I'm guessing if he wants to do season 4 it will be renewed. I hope it does. I really like it.
California football quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele added to his collegiate honors Monday for his performance in the Golden Bears' 49-7 victory over Wagner in a Week 3 game on Saturday. Sagapolutele earned a Manning Award Star of the Week selection.
I know he had a lot of yards, but I'd imagine his ball in the air total was 20-25% of the total passing yards. Lots of YAC. Reminds me of the one game Joe Montana had with 2 90+ yards completions to John Taylor and they were short slants (or something like that) and JT probably had 160+ YAC. Can't just look at stats east coast voters!
BERKELEY – Cal Athletics has introduced the BearShare program – an initiative designed to expand the reach of its department and UC Berkeley into communities throughout the greater Bay Area.
The BearShare program provides complimentary game tickets to nonprofit and 501c3 organizations for select 2026 home football games and 2026-27 Cal men's and women's basketball games.
Upcoming home football games that will be eligible for the BearShare program include:
· Cal football vs. Wake Forest – Saturday, Oct. 17
After hosting No. 3 Wake Forest and Louisville for an ACC homestand, Cal splits the week with a conference road matchup against Boston College and its final nonconference matchup at Edwards Stadium on Sunday against Fresno State. Cal enters the week with a 2-4-4 record (0-2-1 ACC) and will look to find success across the two matchups.
I usually have a drink with dinner to help me take a pre-game nap of at least an hour. This week, both my daughters will be at the homecoming football game, so I think I'll be able to pull it off. I'll set an alarm for 10:15, get up, and immediately have a beer to put me in the football frame of mind. I've tried coffee, but for me it's the wrong energy.
If by "handed them out" you mean "drank", then yes. Unlike at BC, we didn't come across a ton of Cal fans super excited to throw down Cal-themed beers, so I think we only gave away a couple. FireStarkey and I took care of the rest.
Caffeine- usually stay away from that after 2 p, but load up starting around 7 or 8p for the 10:30p starts. Works for football when I can make sure I don’t have plans the next morning. Can’t do it for the mid-week basketball games.
I used to stay up for mid-week basketball (at least the big games), but that was before my kids had to get up at 5:30 to catch the school bus. Now, I mostly watch late Cal basketball games the next morning, once the kids are off to school. At least there are fewer such games now that we're in the ACC.
I don’t even try. I make it through at least the first quarter, sometimes halftime, but that’s it. If I wake up in the middle of the night I might check the score.
In a thoroughly depressing 2026 season for the San Francisco Giants, there was some hope about the future of the outfield Monday night. Drew Gilbert went 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs. Bo Davidson got a hit and stole a base in his big-league debut. And Jonah Cox continues to show he’s a plus defender at both second base as well as center field as the Giants won, 5-2.
Up scale hotel chain. I was about to say I hadn't been before, but I guess I did stay one night in Palo Alto. HS friend of HSB and mine have had their kids' bar/bat mitzvah there and then a lunch the next morning. For previous ones I've always gone back to Moraga and then back out for the lunch. For the last one I brought No 3 along and we spent the night at the hotel. Definitely the nicest hotel I've ever stayed at.

10:30 ET Friday kickoff, so here's a question for my fellow East Coasters: what's your late kickoff Cal game strategy to make it through?
Gut it out. Wife retires at kick off and I'm left to participate in the thread with all of you and my son in Calif.

Did all the 6-6 Oski beer and Coach Ron beer get finished at Syracuse?
Sure did! We brought it all to the pregame in the quad and went right through it.
Oh I forgot we handed them out there.

Dodgers win the off-day waiting for the Pads
Maybe it's because he did Jared Goff dirty (which, granted, worked out for them both), but I find Sean McVay to be totally unlikable.
Four Seasons
A decent movie, and an interesting remake into a miniseries.
Definitely an end of summer beginning of fall like feel today. Mid-60s, light misty drizzle, and a wind coming off the ocean.
