WASHINGTON -- The federal bill aimed at reshaping the college sports industry took a major step toward becoming law Monday night when the U.S. Senate overwhelmingly voted 77-22 to pass it.
I was skeptical that this bill could become law, but with 77 votes in the Senate that is a lot. Seems likely that some version of this gets passed.
And if it does, it makes Cal's position in the P4 a lot safer. How many schools could be poached from the ACC in a scenario where conferences are capped at 20 teams? 4 at most? If that happens and Cal isn't one of them, the ACC probably just backfills and continues along as a Top 4 conference. Of course we all want the B1G, but it's an okay fallback position and not the doom scenario that many people speculate about.
The part I don't like as a Cal fan is that any school jumping from one Power 4 conference to another would have to spend three years without any conference affiliation before joining a new one.
I'm super appreciative that the ACC took us in after the Pac-12 collapsed, but nobody thinks this current geographic arrangement makes any sense at all but now we're stuck with it forever? We didn't create this mess but we're the ones being punished?
I like playing Monopoly when people are willing to trade. I especially like trading in futures For example, I'll trade someone a property, subject to my own immunity from rent. It's a great way to depress the value of their asset while giving myself a new safe haven when circling the board.
Risk is a great board game - one of the best. My only criticism of it is that I think at least half of games I've been involved in are won by whoever employed the Australia strategy.
(Start in Australia, bide your time while amassing troops there until you can slowly push your front into Asia. The whole key is that you have just one front to defend whereas everyone else has at least two.)
i have played all of them 100s of times. went thru various phases over the years w/ different friends
i know Candy Land doesnt care the same weight as an adult board game. however, when you play it as an adult w/ your kids you realize that there is some genius in the artwork. eg getting lost in lollipop forest.

I think that restriction only lasts until 2031?
A couple interesting pieces
Back to 1 transfer (in my opinion the best part)
5 to play 5, starting HS graduation or turning 19. Which will be interesting for those going on a Morman mission.

Board Games Rank'em
Monopoly. Risk. Life. Candy Land

(Start in Australia, bide your time while amassing troops there until you can slowly push your front into Asia. The whole key is that you have just one front to defend whereas everyone else has at least two.)
When I was a kid, I used to play Life more than Monopoly and Risk. Risk was more HS and College. We didn't have Candyland I don't think.
So probably Risk, Monopoly/Life, Candyland.
Monopoly, Life, Risk, Candy Land.
I found Risk to be interesting, but I never felt like I understood all of the rules and I could never find someone to play it with me.
i have played all of them 100s of times. went thru various phases over the years w/ different friends

This and Chutes and Ladders. Super simple game that is great for kids.
