Human Rights Lawyer Navi Pillay Is Awarded Nobel Peace Prize
Ms. Pillay has served as a judge in her native South Africa and on international courts investigating war crimes. She led a U.N. panel that determined that Israel had committed genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, a finding the Israeli government rejected.
For the third time in ACC play, the California Golden Bears faced off against a top-five opponent on the road as they traveled to Kentucky for a clash with the No. 3 Louisville Cardinals.
With five ranked wins under their belt this season, the Cardinals have quickly emerged as one of the premier programs in the ACC and the country, and they showed as much in the first two sets. They beat Cal 25-17 in both sets and relinquished the lead just once, while Cal was only able to knot things up three times across the two sets.
As Carson Perry-Smith bolted out of the backfield on a wheel route, awaiting a pass from Jackson Brousseau late in the third quarter of the Bears' game against UNLV last Saturday, even the most die-hard Cal fans could have seen No. 17 in the wide-open spaces along the left sideline and wondered: Who is that guy?
Six former California men's rowers will get early experience on the LA28 Olympic rowing course this weekend as international crews gather for the 2026 Long Beach Elite and Community Invitational, hosted by USRowing. The regatta will feature elite crews from the United States, Australia, Canada, Great Britain, New Zealand and Norway.
MLB proposes shorter regular season, best-of-7 division series
Major League Baseball has proposed shortening its regular season to 154 games starting in 2029 and expanding the division series to a best-of-seven format.
In the Wild Card round, the No. 3 seed in each league (the division winner with the third-best record) would select whether to play the No. 5 or 6 seed, with that selection taking place immediately following the conclusion of the regular season.
For the Division Series, the No. 1 seed in each league would choose which Wild Card winner they wanted to play, making that selection following the conclusion of the Wild Card round.
Opponent selection would allow the top seed to avoid playing a potentially stronger opponent in the Division Series, eliminate a potential benefit of being the third Wild Card, increase the importance of regular-season record and generate significant fan interest while stoking rivalries.
I've driven from Ky to Arlington, and also Ky to RDC through Virginia. Beautiful through the mountains. Going to UVa game in Nov so we'll see how Charlottesville is then.
DBD lunch
We are in line at Interstellar BBQ in Austin, one of the 3 or 4 Michelin starred BBQ places in Austin.
We got in line about 1030a for an 1100a open. About a one hour wait more than that
Hopefully they don't run out before you get to the front.
they ran out of the mushroom special. otherwise they had everything and it was FANTASTIC!

it is like Texas BBQ meets fine dining. each thing was traditional BBQ w/ a twist, but it still felt very authentic and not fancy.

seems like the Nobel committee is not scared to wade into politics of the moment.
It's OK. Trump will invite Pillay to the WH where she will give him her Nobel Peace Prize.

The stupid part of this is a proposal that the highest seed gets to choose their opponent I think.
