I think we're going to a Peruvian place in WC. Ex-MIL passed away about 10 days ago and the memorial is today. Boys came back and we're all having a late lunch with Ex, ex-BIL, my mom, not sure who else, after the memorial mass and the cemetary.
The Diplomat Season 4 (17/19 Netflix). No spoilers, but I really enjoyed season 4. Was cool to also see West Wing alums Allison Janney and Bradley Whitford together for a whole season. I don't remember how much we saw Bradley Whitford in Season 3. Can't wait for season 5.
Jalen Hurts is expected to miss the rest of the season after doctors discovered multiple blood clots in the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback's lungs, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Was just talking with No 3 about DVT. One of his cohorts in PT school had a sore shoulder and they just talked about DVT in class and he asked his professor if he should get his shoulder checked out. The prof said he should go to the ER right away. Ended up having surgery that night for DVT and a clot and may still have to get a rib removed for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.

Williams led all scorers with 26 points and finished with a +16 in 33 minutes. Williams was the only Valkyrie to score in double figures, but her teammates contributed in other ways: Kiah Stokes tied a playoff career-high with four blocks, and Kaila Charles set a playoff career-high with 10 rebounds.

I was up in the Adirondacks to do an all-day high peak hike that necessitated being on the trail Sunday morning at sunrise. So we had to get to bed right around kickoff.
In the middle of the night, I woke up and checked the score. You know how AI summarizes text chains now? Action on my Cal group thread was summarized as "widespread disgust".
Yes, it did suck. We left late in the third quarter. While we were walking home, Cal scored a TD. We heard no cannon fire. We were on Virginia St., west of Euclid when I looked at my phone. I couldn't tell when the TD occurred, but we heard no cannon fire.
Is there a prohibition on cannon fire after a certain time during night games?
I've noticed the last couple years that I haven't heard the cannon fire. They are mostly night games now so maybe that does have something to do with it.
Swimming? Hell yes. Love it enough that i went back to coaching after 30 years away. Be proud of your Golden Bear men’s and women’s swimming and water polo teams. On this dark morning after football, at least we can turn to our faithfully-winning national powerhouse programs!
There used to be a mandatory swim test? I remember on the MIT tour they said there is a mandatory swim test for 1/2 the width of the Charles river because of the bridge that goes over it.
I swam on the local swim team until I was probably 12. Wasn't fast, wasn't slow. I remember in HS we had swimming and we did the 5 (?) min tread water test. My tread water is basically a breast stroke kick, vs water polo players that do an egg beater motion. I tried that motion and couldn't do it.
same. I was up at the lake this summer and there was a tennis ball floating a ways away from the boat. By the time I swam out to it, it had become apparent that I had bitten off all I could chew. I barely made it back to the boat, now with a much more realistic understanding of my abilities. Terrifying, honestly.
I always say I could save myself in a pool but not much else. On the other hand, one of my brothers turned 70 over the weekend and he celebrated by doing a 5K running workout followed by a half hour ocean swim near their place on Maui.
DBD Lunch
Fritatta with broccoli, potato, and Monterey Jack.
Corn salad.
Greek-style yogurt.
A spicy chicken pho, made possible by being the only person in my part of the office today. I'm slurping away.

I highly recommend Limon, in WC. Apparantly it's a small chain and there are like 8 in Ca. 19/19 WB

Valkyries come from behind to win game 1.
if all goes well and there is a game 6, i should be in Atlanta that night for the game
Game 2 is tonight!
Crazy that it competes with Monday Night Football. Who does this scheduling anyway?
I didn’t even think about MNF! Prob not a big Venn diagram overlap…

FireStarkey and I left right as the 1st half ended. Twas ugly. Bonus is that Kingpin wasn't crowded.

Seems like it should be Matt Biondi or Nathan Adrian as our option in the poll instead of Phelps…
Matt Biondi's mom was a substitute teacher in Moraga. If I remember she was pretty strict.

Somehow I managed to graduate from high school without taking the mandatory swim test. Fearful of being discovered, I swam regularly while at Cal.
There used to be a mandatory swim test? I remember on the MIT tour they said there is a mandatory swim test for 1/2 the width of the Charles river because of the bridge that goes over it.
I think it turns out it was required for some but not all California high schools.
I did do the MIT swim test which is required to check out a boat. Swim a few laps and then tread water for ten minutes.
I swam on the local swim team until I was probably 12. Wasn't fast, wasn't slow. I remember in HS we had swimming and we did the 5 (?) min tread water test. My tread water is basically a breast stroke kick, vs water polo players that do an egg beater motion. I tried that motion and couldn't do it.
maybe i should have picked "sink like a brick".
i can sort of swim, jut not very well or very long. i also find it exhausting to tread water.
