Kraftwerk's Florian Schneider dies at 73...

I remember this group from the 80's - they influenced a lot of electronic music at the time. They wrote the song Tour de France.

Did not expect to read about the evolutionary background of periods on Bored Panda, but here we are: https://www.boredpanda.com/evolutionary-benefits-of-periods-suzanne-sadedin/

"And luckily, the big question was asked out loud thanks to the people on Quora: “What is the evolutionary benefit or purpose of having periods?” It turns out, it wasn’t just another cry in the internet’s wilderness. Evolutionary biologist Suzanne Sadedin stepped in to handle the matter and gave the most illuminating answers ever."

I remember the billboard with Otto's "likeness". I would crane my neck at it every time while passing it in the back seat, trying to figure out why it was so unusual looking. Don't recall if it was for his restaurant or promoting a car dealer etc.

Does anyone remember the "Jim Otto" Burger King in Rocklin?

We'd stop there on the way to Tahoe. I remember how weird it was to order a Whopper just after reading the displays on the walls that enumerated how he had his body mangled over his NFL career.

Ladies and Gentlemen: may I introduce the next DBD topic curator - MoriBear1989!!!

In all seriousness, the DBD is democratic. Just post any topic you want to talk about or hear people's opinion.

How about Old First, so that one can start at the top and read comments in order. Rather than scrolling all the way to the bottom, scrolling up some to figure out where the latest thread starts, reading it, then scrolling up (past the thread one just read) to find the next one.

Or am I missing something?

Makes reading long threads here (and Let’s Go Warriors) tough. With that, two things I’ve meant to write for awhile (this is my first post):

1. Glad that these SB Nation sites ended up surviving! Thanks for keeping things going!!

2. DBD? Searched online to find what that means, and nada. Best I’ve come up with is Day-by-Day.

That translation should be posted somewhere on a FAQ link. The question seems to come up pretty regularly. I know I had to ask, after not being able to figure it out either.

Here's a DBD Dictionary from several years ago. Some of the terms are out of date, due to the people being referenced no longer hanging around, and us moving on to other memes and slang, but maybe it's still a bit helpful:

These are the income cutoffs apparently. You don't get money unless:

If you're a single US resident and have an adjusted gross income less than $99,000. Below $75,000 for the full $1,200 and prorated between $75-99K.

If you file as the head of a household and earn under $146,500. Below $112,500 for the full $1,200 and prorated between $112.5-146.5K.

If you file jointly without children and earn less than $198,000. Below $150,000 for the full $2,400 and prorated between $150-198K.

My 14 year old son worked 3 hours as a busboy before getting fired because the manager let him start before realizing that he wasn't 16 years old, the legal minimum to work in a place that serves alcohol. He received a $1,200 stimulus check yesterday. We cashed it and will hold onto it for a year under the presumption that they will likely figure out that he's 14. After a year, I'm leaning toward using it on hookers & blow.

Without a doubt, my guilty pleasure is the incomparable cappuccino It's-It. We've discussed this before, with some on this site even going so far as designating the mint incarnation as the capstone of the It's-It pyramid! Pure folly, I say, as mint should only be used in breath fresheners, a julep or a mojito - definitely not sandwiched between 2 delicious, chocolate-covered oatmeal cookies.

Chock full of fat, sugar AND carbs, the cappuccino It's-It nails the trifecta of guilty pleasure-eating time and time again in the Chitwood household....

Here is the proper order:

1. Mint

2. The OG, Vanilla

But I guess I'm happy to have you be so wrong, because more for me?

I can't remember my room number but it was in the southern part of the complex, the building at the back of the second entrance. What I really hated was the culprit who kept pulling the fire alarm at 3:00 in the morning. Everyone had to come out of the building in their jammies and wait for BFD to show up and sound the all-clear. I also remember folks calling dominos in the wee hours, letting the delivery walk around trying to find who ordered the pizza, and then offering to buy the pizza for $5 from the guy...freshman pranks.

The chain was acquired by Safeway about 3 years ago, changing the name of the store to Safeway Community Markets. They recently went back to being called Andronicos but are still owned by Safeway. Prior to the Safeway deal, the chain had been acquired by a private equity firm, who then sold it to Safeway. Safeway's parent company is owned by Cerberus Capital Management, who hopes to take Safeway and Albertsons public in the next year or so.
