JLEE/FS - I NEED A NEW KDRAMA TO WATCH

Expand full comment

i was thinking about watching memorial and was it love...mainly they star nana and song ji hyo. haven't watched yet so...

Expand full comment

I think I watched the 1st ep of the one with Nana...I almost feel asleep

Expand full comment

Hmmm, "Its Okay to not be Okay" has star power and has its moments but is in the "good but not great" category. "Men are Men" with the delightful Hwang Jung-Eum is pretty good. "Was it Love" with Song Ji-hyo is pretty good. Backstreet Rookie is silly but moderately entertaining. Dinner Mate had potential but bored me to tears. Sweet Munchies was ridiculous and I couldn't watch. Mystic Pop Up Bar, also with Hwang Jung-Eum, started really slow but finished strong recently. Not too much else out there right now though

I liked dinner mate up to episode 10. Sam gyup sal! Then... meh

It looks like SBN severely botched their anti-spam measures a few days ago by handing out irreversible spam bans to non-spam accounts--including a bunch of the old front-pagers, a (current or maybe just former) ATQ writer, SwisherSweet33, and DC Trojan.

So if we want to get rid of DCT, we just have to jump back to CGB...

Did you notice ?

I haven’t been on an SBN site since the DBD moved, so I had not.

Oakland has this SeeClickFix deal where people can complain about dumped trash, potholes, dead cars etc..., Anyway, the City been repair/adding curbs & sidewalks. As part of that work they've been removing abandoned railroad spurs. As a consequence, they're removing the old railroad ties, soaked with creosote. Well those are in a big pile, since they're now considered toxic, and the contractor has to make special arrangements to dispose of them. Someone complained about this pile, that's been there a couple of weeks.

Irony, when I was a kid, someone paid me maybe $15 to paint a wood fence with creosote, that stuff is nasty.

When we went to Mesa Verde a couple of years ago we were heading into the park and there was a big boulder blocking our lane. If it had happened around here, the boulder would have been in place for days. The Park Service had removed it by the time we came back a few hours later.

USC's injury-hampered TE Daniel Imatorbhebhe enters the portal as a grad transfer. USC now lacks a dynamic pass catching TE as they primarily have blocking TE Erik Krommehnho and Josh Falo. Not that it matters because USC runs an Air Raid offense.

Portland protests still going strong

https://twitter.com/djkeebz/status/1285861414775619585

Expand full comment

While there were continuing to be protests daily, the overall number, size, and amount of violence were all significantly decreased, and dialogue was greatly increased. Then the Feds came in uninvited and proceeded to instigate confrontations, and now the size and level of violence has returned to levels nearly as high as at any point.

Attacking and gassing an emergency room doctor who is also a county commissioner who went by to see what was actually happening didn't exactly reduce tension.

Expand full comment

You'd think that after two months they'd realize that it's not a good look to respond to protests against police brutality with more police brutality.

Particularly crap for high heels and skinny bike tires. There are still some streets and paths in Edinburgh that are cobble stoned but have little slabs of granite perpendicular to the direction of travel so that horses and wooden wagon wheels could get a grip on slopes.

“I’m your VP, but the most important title I’ll ever hold is D-A-D,” Pence said at the conference, which followed a roundtable event with South Carolina students and educators about safe reopening. The state’s governor, Henry McMaster (R), has called for schools to reopen full-time. “I can tell you with my wife seated right here, if our kids were elementary school age or high school age or college, we wouldn’t hesitate to send them back to school.”

Good grief, what a dolt.

I’m hoping that whoever has been working on the remote learning alternatives has some better ideas now. I wasn’t overly critical about the mayhem in the spring because it’s really hard to pivot that fast - but they should have been able to make some improvements by now

i've heard talk, of at least locally, that they might send the elementary kids back to school and have them space out by using the high school in addition to the elementary schools...while the high school/middle school kids stay online.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/22/health/us-coronavirus-wednesday/index.html

"Just after 1,000 people died in a single day, the US is about to reach 4 million Covid-19 cases.

To put that in perspective, the first reported case came on January 21. After 99 days, 1 million Americans became infected.

It took just 43 days after that to reach 2 million cases.

And 28 days later, on July 8, the US reached 3 million cases. Case number 4 million could be reported just two weeks after that.

As of Wednesday morning, more than 3.9 million people had been infected across the US, and more than 142,000 have died, according to data from Johns Hopkins University."

Sources: Mookie Betts, Dodgers near long-term contract

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/29517069/sources-mookie-betts-dodgers-long-term-contract

Rumor is 10 year at least 300 mil. I've even heard 350-400 mil.

I've been watching the scrimmages the last few nights. They are killing the ball. Everyone up and down the lineup is hitting the ball.

Expand full comment

Another rumor is 13/380. Wow. I guess this means Seager is gone after this season. Which sucks because now that he's healthy I think he'll kill it this season.

Expand full comment

yeah...seager may be gone after this season...good thing for guys like lux waiting in the wings...

Expand full comment

wait no...seager under contract 2022...

Expand full comment

Of the young guys they will (should) extend Bellinger and Buehler. I would like to see them extend Seager if he hits as well this year as he has been during "spring" training. We'll see on Lux.

Expand full comment

they saying 380 now.

something like 50mm per for the next 6 seasons...then 30 for 1 season...then the mlb minimum for the remainder.
