Our new commish is very different from our old commish:
“I was there for the UCLA-LSU game. I probably chose the right game this weekend. It was unfortunate how the North (Division) performed. I think we’ll do better. We were coming off a COVID year. There are teams in our league that played three or four games over the last 20 months, playing against teams that have played as recently as April. Still, inexcusable to lose some of those games.”
Love the energy and passion the guy shows. I'd be the same way, expect excellence regardless of the situation (which is why I'm harder on the players than most)
Texas Motor Speedway, where NASCAR and INDYCAR go is in North Fort Worth where people can do the NASCAR racing experience on the track. There's a block outside the track where there is an in n out, raising canes, chick fil a, and a panda express all next to each other so its my heaven. The track lately has been racing horrifically, main because of the reconfiguration they did in 2017 but it would still be fun for people to do the racing experience if they find the chance (although they should do Daytona)
SGBear, FS, GO, HSB, and myself just had dinner at Heim. The bacon burnt ends are incredible. The brisket was good. The green chile mac and cheese was very good.
Saw Shang-Chi. Good fight choreography, charismatic actors, so over-plotted it overshadows the titular hero's character. 13/19 WB, an upper-middle tier MCU movie.
I move to college exactly 1 week from today. Things are getting real now. Also Cal women's soccer plays at Santa Clara the 12th so I wonder if btown is going to that.
Go Bears!!! Early this morning Berkeley was rattled by a passing thunderstorm prompting officials to declare a red flag fire alert due to potential lightning strikes. It rained quite heavily for a time. An omen from the gods?
Driving eastbound (and down) through the Caldecott yesterday around 830 I saw fire trucks driving up behind it. There must have been a small fire up there somewhere.
Totally appropo of today's date and nothing else, my paternal grandmother would have been 116 years old today.
On this day, I also terminated a trust she set up in 1988 by visiting the Sonoma County Recorder's Office.
Oh, yeah. Anna was Class of '27, I believe.

We have figure 4 racing at the NC State Fair. This one includes trailers, which gives it an extra element of chaos.

What exactly is that picture supposed to be? (Looks like Fozzie the Bear.)
It helped me to take off my glasses and look at it. Clearly Kermit on the left, Fozzie on the right.
It's Fozzy and Kermit, done with paint sample squares. Frogs + Bears this weekend.
Paint sample squares...I was wondering what that text was
Though technically, horned frogs are lizards, not actual frogs.
I should add, there are some kinds of "horned frogs" that are actual frogs. But the ones that live in Texas and are the TCU mascot are lizards.

What does Forbes rate them?
184. If they keep working hard, they will reach the levels of Fresno State (173) or Cal State San Marcos (183).
Sounds like a great deal for that $52k/year tuition
Also UC Los Angeles was 159.
That's CSU LA at 159, the baby bears are at 8
I didn't check, but UCLA that low didn't seem right.

Max Duggan is what we hoped Chase Garbers would be after the 2019 season

Last time I was in Fort Worth I almost froze to death at the Armed Forces Bowl. People who were there: cugel, dmoney, Fire Starkey, YesWeCannon
Leaving Ft Stockton w/in the hour...next stop, Ft Worth! Go Bears.
Leaving for the airport now. Meat sweats, here I come.
If I may chime in with some FW recs:
BBQ: Heim, Dayne's, Hurtado (Arlington, but worth the drive)
Drinks: The Usual, Proper, Thompsons
Other Food: Piattello, Meso Maya, Pappasitos, Dutch's Burgers, Buffalo Bros near campus for post game wings/pizza/beer
Near Southside, Downtown, and Clearfork are great eating/drinking/shopping areas
SGBear, FS, GO, HSB, and myself just had dinner at Heim. The bacon burnt ends are incredible. The brisket was good. The green chile mac and cheese was very good.
Can't forget about FS's and GO's SOs.
Thank you!!

Trump is already claiming the California recall is rigged

Probably rigged to inflate Trump's interests to deflect suspicion.

Ted Lasso getting 1) better in terms of quality per episode, 2) real. Much more interesting than how they started out season 2.
Saw Shang-Chi. Good fight choreography, charismatic actors, so over-plotted it overshadows the titular hero's character. 13/19 WB, an upper-middle tier MCU movie.

Dodgers announce Trevor Bauer officially out for the rest of the season, including postseason.
The bare effing minimum for that guy. Bad actor.
I hope he's officially out for the rest of his career.
Dodgers still mired in Giants’ wake after lackluster finale vs. Cardinals

ugly game. They'd better get up for the Padres since this weekend may be the playoffs for the Padres.
Tom Brady wins again.

Evans - Godwin - Brown - Gronk. That's a lot of talented pass catchers. If only... Chase had those receivers on his team.
Blargh, I really hate those two slobbering all over their love of old farts, and I say that as an old fart.

100 strikes in the Bay Area and 1100 statewide
Fire up on Grizzly Peak, but it sounds like it's been contained.
