This is a bit of an off the wall question, but has anybody heard of any discussion about potential changes to the signing dates for recruiting. I haven't read anything on it, but due to the complications regarding traveling, visiting the schools, and fall seasons, it wouldn't surprise me if it gets pushed a little.
They are only fans to have ever gone out their way to shake my hand and thank me for coming to a game in Provo, several of them... that they had just lost. Also, free ice cream and the end of the first quarter!
No I don't think so. I didn't see the sticker until I got back to the tailgate. Perhaps students need to be separated from adults. I would guess students at just about all schools would be assholes.
You know, the worst interaction with fans is from Cal fans. It's not that they're bad perse, but every single big tailgate that I've been to, there is always one Cal fan to come and just help themselves to the tailgate. Every time they say "oh, I thought this was a university-sponsored thing", but you know and I know that's a lie. There's a small percentage of people who try to weasel the system no matter where they are. I tell them "if you asked, I would have given it to you for free." One year at a Big Game tailgate at 'furd hosted by my dad, a Cal fan got caught stealing food/beer. He then decided that, when caught, it was a good idea to throw the food in the face of the wife of a 240-pound body-building doctor. It did not end well for that fan.
My limited experiences with people with Penn State connections have been very positive. But then the best 2 were products of the Band program. That generally seems to have a better result than the overall norm.
I didn't even realize it was on when I was looking at the TV schedule. watched the opening and was confused since I thought there weren't supposed to be an audience. And then I didn't see any masks so I thought maybe it was old clips. Turns out I was right.
SMU is a prototypical "Entitled rich kids" private school. They have kids from all over the US, not just Texas. I went to a party there once back in the day and ended up talking to 2 girls from Menlo Park
I doubt he's looking for another job. SMU is perfect for him... he's a Dallas boy for all intents and purposes, he can recruit whomever he wants, zero pressure at the job and they pay him well. I can see him staying there for a decade or more

For the time being, I can't watch or listen to the news because I don't want to hear the arguments about when they will vote to replace her spot on the court.
Same, and I've been trying to avoid social media, too. Just trying to focus on reading and writing to distract myself when everything in the real world feels so hopeless :(
FET. I went for a run on Sat for the first time (maybe 2.25 mi) since about the beginning or middle of June. Tweaked my back a couple of times, then had to quarantine when I flew back, then the smoke. My legs were super sore yesterday and today. I may try to go for another run this afternoon.
I expected the Trump era to be a disaster, but I did not expect we would reach the level of having an uncertified doctor forcibly sterilizing immigrants.
Watched parts of the Seahawks/Patriots game. Cam Newton appears to be back and reasonably healthy. He was tackled at the one yard line in the final seconds trying to win it for the Patriots. But everybody knew he was going to play hero ball and try to score with his legs. Should have been a play action pass with a run option...
Despite a spirited comeback effort from the Denver Nuggets in the fourth quarter, the Los Angeles Lakers were able to win Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals on Sunday thanks to a buzzer-beating 3-point shot by Anthony Davis.
Unlike last game, the Lakers didn’t look like they were in complete control in the first half despite their 10-point lead at the half. However, they were still able to outplay the Nuggets because of an aggressive and efficient first half from LeBron James.
The San Francisco 49ers got off to a fast start for the second week in a row as Raheem Mostert raced to an 80-yard touchdown. The wind quickly went out of the Niners sails after Jimmy Garoppolo limped off the field. That wouldn’t be the worst news in the first quarter for San Francisco, as Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas were both carted off the field. That was as deflating as a few minutes as it gets.
The 49ers allowed a field goal on the drive but answered with a touchdown to Jordan Reed in the second quarter. Reed looked impressive early, as did Garoppolo, who started the game 8-for-8 through the air. The Jets didn’t have issues moving the ball on the 49ers, but Fred Warner came up with a big-time stop on fourth down to stall a New York drive.
1. I thought last year's injury parade on defense was bad, but it's clearly nothing compared to this. I think a return trip to the Super Bowl is pretty much out of the question.
The Oakland A’s came close to a historic sweep this weekend, but the San Francisco Giants avoided it at the last moment.
The Giants apparently saved all their runs for the final game of this series, as they were shut out on Friday and Saturday only to hang double-digits on the board Sunday. The A’s lost the finale 14-2, in a game that was exactly as close as it sounds.
I really did not have any hope that the San Francisco Giants would enter Sunday’s game against the Oakland A’s and entirely reverse the run differential of the series. When you lose 6-0 in the series opener, that’s a hard enough task. When you lose 6-0 a second time ... well reversing that differential feels like an insurmountable task that’s compounded by the fact that you’ve already spent two days proving how not good you are.
But the 2020 Giants have always been up for a challenge, even a stupid one created by their own failures in the first place.
And so they went out in the series finale, against a team that has utterly owned them all year, attempting to make up a 12-run deficit. And they succeeded.
Some days, your offense just doesn’t have it. That was the case for the Dodgers on Sunday afternoon, as they tallied only seven hits in their 6-3 loss to the Rockies.
The Dodgers got an RBI single from Edwin Rios in the seventh inning. They had a prime chance to tack on some runs in the eighth after loading the bases with two outs. A little two-out rally quickly loaded the bases for Cody Bellinger. He saw five fastballs, and couldn’t connect on any of them, swinging through strike three to end the inning.
Will the A's come out of the AL? Losing Donaldson will hurt. I think the Dodgers will be platooning to get the bench more playing time and relief pitchers more innings so I'm not sure the A's will see the Dodgers best. But it would be interesting to see a Dodgers/A's WS.

Who has the best fans, based on your personal experience?
Utah
True, also BYU
They are a close 2nd overall, in my experience.
They are only fans to have ever gone out their way to shake my hand and thank me for coming to a game in Provo, several of them... that they had just lost. Also, free ice cream and the end of the first quarter!
With a small handful of exceptions (there is some number of these everywhere), Boise St. is pretty good as well.
Going to have to say Ole Miss.
its not often that someone will show up at your tailgate bearing the gift of a $14 bottle of Pecan whiskey/syrup
HAG, was it you that was kinda near me when those kids from Ole Miss were handing out less than welcoming stickers on the Grove going back?
No I don't think so. I didn't see the sticker until I got back to the tailgate. Perhaps students need to be separated from adults. I would guess students at just about all schools would be assholes.

I just can't believe a couple of your fraternity brothers didn't end up paying. That's just screwed up.
Who has the worst fans - in your personal experience, not based in reputation?
that one Colorado fan who told me Nelson Spruce was going to fuck me.

Oh no, No no no.

I’ve worked with a number of Penn State alumni who were all very pleasant. As a group in a stadium? Trash.

Sonny Dykes' SMU team goes to 2-0 with 65-35 win over North Texas. Glad to see that he is still keeping calm and dropping 50.
strangely, there are several SMU grad signs on Balboa Island in Newport Beach. Wonder how those kids ended up at SMU being from Newport and not SC...
SMU is a prototypical "Entitled rich kids" private school. They have kids from all over the US, not just Texas. I went to a party there once back in the day and ended up talking to 2 girls from Menlo Park
I wonder what job Sonny is eyeballing right now?

Mid-major Texas school seems like the absolute perfect spot for Sonny.
generally speaking, SMU has been playing better defense than his norm
every few years he has a lapse and lets some good defense happen.

OUR CRUMBLING DEMOCRACY
That doctor who performed hysterectomies on immigrants? He's not certified to be a doctor in the US.
https://www.businessinsider.com/ice-doctor-performing-hysterectomies-is-not-board-certified-2020-9
I expected the Trump era to be a disaster, but I did not expect we would reach the level of having an uncertified doctor forcibly sterilizing immigrants.
It does capture the angle of “nobody hates immigrants like other immigrants” though
on the contrary, I think this actually fits the Trump legacy perfectly
Absolutely horrific
Let's see if he's convicted now. Assuming Trump won't be in office, I also assume he can't preemptively pardon the doctor
I guess the doctor could plead guilty right now and then get pardoned. @he could always give a large donation to the Trump campaign@

Without looking, I know what that is; forgot the rules I guess.
Rams beat Eagles pretty easily. Goff outshines Darnold with some nice throws and more importantly no mistakes. 3TD throws to Tyler Higbee.
Watched parts of the Seahawks/Patriots game. Cam Newton appears to be back and reasonably healthy. He was tackled at the one yard line in the final seconds trying to win it for the Patriots. Yup, dumb call.
Newton's attempt to leap into the end zone was pretty comical. Dude expected to cover about 3 yards with very little forward momentum.
And little blocking.

yeah I meant to type Chapman.
'round here, we call him Chappy.
Chapman > Donaldson, at least as far as the D goes
Still won 2 of 3 so I'll take it. Still have won/tied all but one series all season. This was a get away day line up.
