Defensive Film Review: 4th Down Stops and Coverage Busts

Looking at the plays that won Cal the game, and one play that almost lost Cal the game

While the Cal offense struggled for big plays but also didn’t make any disastrous plays, the Cal defense was much more boom or bust, combining turnover forcing plays with coverage busts. Unfortunately, the Pac-12 camera work wasn’t sufficiently far downfield to review one of the plays I wanted to analyze (Elijah Badger’s 52 yard deep cross) but we can still take a close look at two very different 4th down stops, and one unfortunately coverage bust.
