I like the lead graphics with this article, amusing. The defense was so fun to watch. On offense, I think the short passing game was beautifully executed and effective, filling in for a very bad running game. I think the vertical passing will come along a bit more Saturday night. Those short and intermediate completions, resulting in a bunch of third down conversions were nice to see, and I don't mind if we keep it up. I hope the OL run blocking gets better soon. It should be good enough Saturday night to make some lanes for Javian Thomas and his brother running backs. If the Beavers can do it, we can do it.
Cal's running O was hampered by the fact that we had a 3rd string center and two others who were not the main starters. Once you break up the chemistry of the 5 man blocking machine that has worked together for an appreciable time, then the blocking schemes are not coordinated like they should.
Hope this is not the case on Saturday. Hopefully the opponent is such that we can play backups and still win comfortably. Ott probably will not play and if I were Wilcox I'd hold him out until the Florida State game
