What a beautiful piece, Nam. I really enjoyed reading that. As someone who’s followed you since your early days, it tickles me to see you write like an elder statesman. I miss hearing the podcast with you and Trace — it makes the guest appearances special.
It’s the special moments like this — the highs and the lows — that make Cal football fun to follow.
And also, the world is just finding out that no other fan base, CFB, pro, or the alike has the intellect and self-deprecating humor of this group. CGB, WFC, Avi and crew have been the nucleus, holding it down for the youngin's to come along. These guys (and sometimes gals) deserve our love and gratitude for holding us together through the years!
The entire cal community is all at once amazed, proud and energized by this latest iteration of the calgorithm.
However, in this time of peak excitement, I think it’s important to remember that the Cal Community encompasses more than just us here on W4C or those repping the cal burner community.
There’s a certain subset of longtime suffering fans who have bled with this team since our last rose bowl appearance in 1959. And it’s these fans who have kept this program alive. If the calgorithm is our voice, it’s these older blues who are the true backbone of the football program. They were instrumental behind the scenes in helping Cal to the ACC. And without their generosity, we wouldn’t have back to back top 10 portal classes.
So yes, the cal burners should be proud. This is your time. You deserve all the praise and fun and excitement. Absolutely deserved.
But please don’t forget. There have been cal fans who have been devoting their life to this team long before we came around. And without them, we wouldn’t all be where we are now. Yes, this season could mean we reach heights as a fan base never before seen. But we are all standing on the shoulders of those older blues. I think that’s important to at least acknowledge and remember.
Damn! Lots of great contributors to CGB and WFC over the years. Nam Le stands out among a pack of extremely talented writers and takes me back. I don't slum around the virtual town halls of Twitter or other socials, so I am missing out on these memes. I get my fix here on WFC and wish it could platform memes the way CGB could. Those CGB days, the Jumbaco gifs, the Tosh memes, were cathartic salve for the pain and suffering of the transition from Tedford to post-Tedford Cal Football. R.I.P. Oracle gif.
Nicely done, Nam. As a vintage Cal fan from the Theder, Kapp, Snyder eras, my hope and optimism still runs Blue and Gold strong decades later. Glad to see younger generations continue the passion. Go Bears!
This was beautiful Nam. Admittedly, I might have shed a tear or two. I know how much this means to you and to all of us. I couldn’t think of a better person to be our Pope.
Well written, really enjoyed this.
Who here remembers Cyberbears and the Bear Insider? These are the OGs of Cal fans on the Internet.

Why am I crying?
Jeez what a buzz kill...had to stop reading it.
Also didn’t really to comment if you stopped reading. Not really adding to the discourse here.
DeSean Jackson's reactions. I love that he's still proud to be a Cal Bear.

This is it. This is the post that curses us to lose to FSU.
Not the first time I've been accused 😂

I'm right there with you. The Bear will not quit, the Bear will not die. The Bear, however, is often terrible at football.
Well said Nam. We appreciate your service over the years.

I am so glad to see Cal's online stronghold entering the mainstream. Long may we bears roll on.
What a beautiful piece! The future feels so exciting, what a good time to take a peak at the past. I feel fortunate to be here for it.
PS Twist says he enjoyed reading this
This post was really flying around out there
