Berk, I remember thinking on the first play of the game.... "Wait, did we just pitch the ball???" Am I making it up that we've NOT been pitching, but have been handing off under Wilcox (Baldwin) so far? And did that play into the success of our run game in against 'Furd? Great analysis, as always, though it's a lot more fun to watch after a win.......sads......

Good eye, haha. I haven't charted the full O for UCLA or Oregon State, but the toss definitely impacted that play in the Stanford game, because it helped the play get wide fast. Cal generally couldn't do a lot between the tackles, so the toss kept the RB out of that problem area.

For the first time, Moore really reminded me of freshman Marshawn. After seeing his first run that you analyzed with the big stiff arm, the way he moved his head and shoulders reminded me of Marshawn even more!

He definitely brings a physical presence that's advanced for a true frosh. We're also getting that from Brown, so it'll be interesting to see how the rotation develops!

My takeaway was that Moore was a bit harder to bring down than Dancy and used the straight arm a couple of times to good effect. However, he demonstrates good vision in my opinion, though probably not elite speed. The announcers (Petros I think) compared him to Eric Bieniemy several decades ago as he went to the same high school.

Running for 120+ yards as a frosh out of high school in the Big Game is pretty impressive, I would add.

I generally expect a safety (hello, Ashtyn) to be as fast as most on the field. No shame there in my book.

When I watched Moore get caught, I thought Moore was so slow. But if he can get that many yards, I'm happy enough.

Dancy only got this Pin and Pull play one time (the first play of the game), and it went for a big gain, so it was more about the kind of play than it was the quality of the blocking. Dancy was used more often to run conventional Zone plays out of different formations, which is why his yards per carry were different. Moore had a few of those as well, but primarily benefitted from this specific play, which was kind of gameplan/formation specific.
