Former Auburn and Boise State HC Bryan Harsin Emerges as a Potential Cal Offensive Coordinator Candidate
A Controversial OC Candidate Emerges
Bryan Harsin’s last stint as a football coach was a tenure at Auburn where he was 9-12 with Auburn with a plethora of personnel related tumult on both sides of the ball with 20 players and 5 staff members leaving the program in his first year including Bo Nix (former Auburn QB and son of another Auburn legend Patrick Nix) who was quoted saying:
"“Last year, I was just kind of over it. Each week it was something else. There was, quite frankly, nothing I could do about it. I just remember kind of being miserable. It wasn’t fun anymore.”"
Of the staff he lost Derek Mason who left $400K on the table making a lateral move to Oklahoma State.
On the field Auburn ranked 58th in 2022 and 28th in 2021.
However, that being said, before Auburn he accrued an incredible 69-19 record at Boise State where his offenses circulated around good to above average (In 2019 Boise State was 42nd in OFEI).
The key connection between Wilcox and Harsin was their shared time at Boise where 2006-09 Wilcox served as DC and Harsin was the OC.
I guess it could be worse, it could be Hugh Freeze
