How Cal Football's commits performed in their Friday (or Thursday/Saturday) High School Football games
High School football keeps on rolling, and so do our future Golden Bears. This week’s Friday Night Lights takes a look at the games and progress from California’s program commits and prospects from their varsity matchups on Thursday, September 4th, through Saturday, September 6th.
Taimane Purcell - Kamehameha (Honolulu, HI) - Purcell and the Kamehameha Kapalama Warriors fell to the JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, CA) Lions by a score of 38-20, and have not posted stats for their players since week one, where Purcell brought in his lone reception for 30 yards.
Victor Santino - Bishop Montgomery (Torrance, CA) - DNP: Season Forfeited.
Nemyah Telona - De La Salle (Concord, CA) - Nemyah Telona and the Spartans shut out the Junipero Serra Padres 26-0 last week as Telona brought in a single tackle (solo) and brought in an interception for the De La Salle defense.
Cam Brooks - Thomas County Central (Thomasville, GA) - Cam Brooks was lights out in Thomas County Central’s 55-7 blowout victory over the Thomasville Bulldogs, as Brooks was everywhere on defense last Friday. Brooks made 4 (1 solo, 3 assisted) total tackles for a loss of 3.0 yards with 2.5 sacks for a loss of 21 yards against the Bulldogs’ QB Cam Hill.
Kamo'i Huihui-White - St. Louis (Honolulu, HI) - Huihui-White anchored the offensive interior line and supported the rush for 54 yards as the Crusaders primarily stuck with a passing game en route to their 44-14 victory over Mililani. Huihui-White and the o-line allowed just 1 sack in 48 minutes of play.
Nainoa Lopes - St. Louis (Honolulu, HI) - Lopes led the Crusaders to victory with 18-25 pass completions and 264 yards with 3 TDs as St. Louis defeated the Mililani Trojans 44-14. Lopes had 0 INT and suffered just one sack the entire game.
EJ Morgan - Central East (Fresno, CA) - Morgan and the Bengals stomped on the Turlock Bulldogs 44-20, with Morgan bringing in just 1 reception for 6 yards.
Tyree Sams - Clovis North (Clovis, CA) - Bye Week!
Ernest Nunley - Western (Anaheim, CA) - The Western Pioneers were beaten badly by the Huntington Beach Oilers 7-48, with Nunley recording 3 total tackles (2 solo, 1 assisted) as Huntington Beach rushed for 59 yards and passed for 351 yards on 19 completions
Jonathan McKinley II - Centennial (Corona, CA) - The Centennial Huskies welcomed the Bingham Miners from South Jordan, UT, to Corona, CA, and handed them a 42-6 beatdown. Jonathan McKinley II was everywhere on defense, as the senior edge finished with 7 total tackles (3 solo, 4 assisted) and 4 QB hurries.
Esaiah Wong - Kailua (Kailua, HI) - The Kailua Surfriders rode the wave against the Kaiser Cougars as they easily cruised to a 50-3 victory. Wong and the o-line were lights out, as they set their QB up for a 17-21 day to throw 303 yards and 3 TDs with 0 INTs – as well as allowing their RBs to carve up the defense for 225 rushing yards and 3 TDs.
Jaxon Pyatt - Arvada West (Arvada, CO) - The Arvada West Wildcats won a 34-33 nailbiter over the Fairview (Boulder, CO) Knights on the road, with LB Jaxon Pyatt bringing in 7 total tackles (2 solo, 5 assisted).
Elisha Faamatuainu - Murrieta Valley (Murrieta, CA) - Bye Week!
Brady Palmer - Cathedral Catholic (San Diego, CA) - Palmer had a rough outing last Friday against Chandler HS (AZ), going 9-15 with 0 TDs, 1 INT, and 123 passing yards. In 12 rushing attempts, the senior QB collected 147 yards, with a long of 47 yards, and a TD. Palmer did ultimately lead his Dons to a 24-23 comeback victory at home!
Jayden Crowder - Santa Margarita Catholic (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) - The Highland (Palmdale, CA) Bulldogs got handed a beatdown by Santa Margarita’s Eagles, as Senior Jayden Crowder and the Rancho Santa Margarita Catholic squad won 45-13, and Crowder brought in 2 assisted tackles.
Artem Korchagin - Thomas County Central (Thomasville, GA) - The o-line for the Yellow Jackets was lights out against the Thomasville Bulldogs, allowing RBs to rush for 186 yards on 32 carries to score 3 TDs, and make a longest rush of 58 yards. Artem and co protected their QBs honorably, as the team’s QBs went 18-29 with 4 TDs and 288 passing yards.
Rocky Cummings - Carlsbad (Carlsbad, CA) - Carlsbad continues to dominate the SoCal region as the Lancers remain undefeated and beat the El Camino Wildcats 30-13. Rocky Cummings brought in 1 reception for 16 yards on offense, and created 5 QB hurries on defense as a LB. A player on both sides of the ball, Cummings is everywhere on this Carlsbad lineup, making plays.
Frank Fanua - Mount Miguel (Spring Valley, CA) - The Matadors shut out the Loyola (Los Angeles) Cubs 21-0 and did not feel like posting their stats after the game. Let’s hope Frank “Angelo” Fanua had a great game!
Deon Jackson - Long Beach Poly (Long Beach, CA) - The Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits picked up their first win of the season against the Tustin Tillers with a 28-27 and game-winning interception with less than a minute on the clock in the 4th quarter. Jackson was all over the field for the Jackrabbits, as he brought in 36 yards on 1 rush on offense, and brought in 6 solo tackles and 3 assists, as well as 3 pass deflections on defense.

Luca Wolf - NFL Academy (London, EN) - Bye Week!
Kingston Schirmer - Centennial (Corona, CA) - As part of the Centennial 42-6 beat down of South Jordan’s Bingham Miners, Kingston “Lucky” Schirmer made 6 total tackles (3 solo, 3 assisted) for a tackle for loss of 1 yard. While the Miners did not post any rushing stats, it’s safe to assume they did not gain much against the Huskies’ d-line.
