In 24 hours, you donated a whopping **$815**, which allowed me to purchase food that added up to 2,982 points in the competition scoring system. (The scoring weights toward high-need items). Details:
In the previous few weeks before this post was published, my Cal friends on Twitter (plus one Coug!) donated *$545*, which combined with my students' own donations to add up to 2,188 points. Details:
That brings us up to 5,170(!!) total points. The teacher that was in the lead had 2,688 points heading into today, so he'd need to bring in 2,483 points today in order to stay ahead of us. I'll give you an update this evening when I get the final results ... but I feel pretty dang good!!
Regardless of how it turns out, I'm blown away by everyone's generosity here, and I am really looking forward to teaching a lesson on the Big Game! I think Rob is going to let me write another post next week soliciting ideas for that lesson. Stay tuned. :-)
A great story and effort, Jeff. I'm a fellow Washingtonian but am a Cal grad as my name here suggests. One thing I love about sports and the Pac? is the opportunity to connect and visit other schools. We can't let our tribalism and loyalties get in the way of seeing that we are all seeking a good life with love and work and sports, right? I'm supporting this for your people in Pierce County and for the camaraderie with a Coug fan who can also say Go Bears!
Well, y’all - guess some kids in Puyallup are going to learn all about the Big Game! We just hit $500!!
Hello! I'm here to answer any questions you might have. Go Bears!

Love it! Might I suggest you hang a Cal flag in your classroom if you win?
Just sent $25! Let's get this over the top!
The incentive of teaching a lesson like Reef did on the Big Game is huge!
OK folks, here's the (almost) final update!
