Haven’t read all the comments yet, but as a Marketing person we should use this opportunity to address all the misconceptions people have about Cal and Football. So this could be classified into these categories:
1. We do care about football and show crowd size. And other ‘normal’ things done for a game by fans (yes we have more than 7 fans!). Our NIL somehow?
2. We have produced many successful pro Bears. Name some recent one, show the totals, use this as a recruiting opportunity. Maybe compare stats with pro football players vs Miami’s. Like do we have more pro bears this year than Miami?
3. Somehow show that we aren’t antifa/protesters/woke or whatever else negative label they choose. I don’t know how to do this and not be political, but we are smart enough to figure this out in 4 days!
Play up our strengths:
1. would highlight the #Calgorithm but explain it as national people may not understand! Shows we are fun too.
2. Play up stats on Nobel laureates, compare sat scores btw 2 schools, showcase #1 public U vs Miami’s #?, periodic table discoveries, our Olympic medals vs Miami’s (total/2024), showcase Ave salary of a Cal college grad vs a Miami one, etc
3. Our location - Memorial has beautiful, the campus, the view of SF/the Bay, but maybe college Gameday will already do this for us.
