Golden Nuggets: Can I Offer You a Distraction In These Trying Times?
I'm still working on my whale big board.
Hello and welcome to Golden Nuggets, our weekly recap article where we try to highlight all the fun, funny, or interesting things you might have missed roughly over the last week across Bear Territory (the whole damn world of course).
Before we dive in, no we’re not gonna talk about any of that. Go read our Big Board here for that sort of thing.
Breaking Whale News
We start this week with the biggest breaking news out of Berkeley, linguists at UC Berkeley have discovered that whales use vowels.
“According to a new study from Gasper Begus (UC Berkeley Linguist) and his colleagues with Project CETI (Cetacean Translation Initiative), the whales make sounds that resemble vowels, a key part of human language. Their research was published Wednesday in the journal Open Mind.”
GFed Does Berkeley
GFedGoGrazy is a TikTok/Youtube Influencer who is on a mission to visit 100 Stadiums in 100 Days, this is past week spent the day in the beautiful city of Berkeley, touring California Memorial Stadium and Haas Pavilion. It’s a neat video showing a lot of behind the scenes sort of stuff us QQ denizens wouldn’t normally see up in the press box, so give it a watch!
Volleyball Senior Day
Cal Volleyball celebrated Senior Day this past week. Congrats to Mikayla Hayden, Natalie Lau, Peyton DeJardin, and Cherlin Antonio!
