Golden Nuggets: Media Days, SuperRon, and Scorigami (Caligami? ScoriCali?)
Truth, Justice, and the California Way
Hello and welcome to Golden Nuggets! In this weekly write up, we try our best to cover all things Cal, Berkeley, Bearkeley, UC Berkeley, University of Cal Berkeley, University of Berkeley at Cal, BerkeleyInspire, and California Berkeley University that happened more or less in the last week! Let’s dig in!
Cal Football and ACC Media Days
This past week, Cal Football held Media Days, with a number of players suiting up in uniforms for photo shoots. Here were some of my favorites.
Then yesterday, the ACC Media Days started and Cal was part of Day 1, sending Cade Uluave, Devin Brown, Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, Aidan Keanaaina, Justin Wilcox, and Ron Rivera which lead to some more great photos and content.

Cal Athletics featured an interview with Ron as part of the 2025 Summer Edition of Cal Sports Quarterly, Cal Athletics flagship magazine (which is sent to donors that contribute $600 or more). Or, you can be like me and read it for free every so often! Read the article here!

Write for Cal Contributor and DBD Poster @SGBear took the time this week to create the Cal Football Scorigami. If you don’t know what Scorigami is, give this a quick read. Or look at the Cal Football version here. This project lead us to learn that Cal Football had its first 14-9 score this past year in all games since 1886! Can’t wait to watch a 5-4 Masterclass this fall (and knock off another Scorigami).
The LA Times stepped into the UCLA vs UC Berkeley debate of "Who’s really the No. 1 public university in the country?” Read the article here. (The answer will not surprise you!) It lead to one of my now favorite media images though:

Thanks for this. It gave me some really good positive feelings for this season.
I've seen Red Panda perform at multiple venues all across the country! Gotta get that Red out of the name, though. Oski on a unicycle, perhaps?
