I, for one, hella enjoy the memes created for Golden Nuggets. The age of AI has made memes all too easy to create - but it can't recreate our expansive knowledge of nerdy things with a tart wit all wrapped up in a shitty Photoshop bow that is now the Calgorithm signature.
The problem is that OSKI is a GOLDEN bear which is a BROWN bear not a black bear. We sounds like fools but if raiders fans become CAL fans I’ll be fully supportive without hesitation. But seems very forced and quite odd.
Probably has to do with the 7:30pm nighttime kickoff and also how dark blue can look like empty seats for a TV audience. But, yeah, gold is a bad choice especially for this game and visitor and also bc most people don’t own gold/yellow shirts and especially not sweatshirts and it’s a night game. All in all, we should be in white or navy IMO
If you go with White, you get the Auburn game last year where the stadium is in white and the away team is too. The synergy between Gold Jersey/Gold shirts in the stands is nice! And it'll look good! And you have plenty of time to find gold something!

The WHITE OUTs or whatever they call it at Penn St are a hit regardless of the visitors being in white. It’s iconic and successful bc everyone can participate without paying for overpriced shirts with dumb tariffs
Cal fans are pretty lame in my opinion as far as going for a Gold Out. Maybe if they keep doing it, more people will eventually get on board? It’s difficult to get everyone on board. Even the fanatical Nebraska fans don’t all wear red, and the Sea of Red has been the thing every game forever

When we had a live mascot, wasn’t it a black bear (species wise at least)? Can’t imagine that they’d import a brown bear.

Actually, a golden bear is a cinnamon bear which is a young black bear. They are a good looking GOLDEN BEAR. As they age their fur turns black.
There are plenty of light brown fully grown black bears in my neighborhood - my avatar for example, picture taken a few years ago in my back yard.

This is the reason indeed. Cal wears a very dark blue, but you want something that pops at night. Gold it is.
