Hello and welcome to Golden Nuggets! In this weekly write up, we try our best to cover all things Cal, Berkeley, Bearkeley, UC Berkeley, University of Cal Berkeley, University of Berkeley at Cal, BerkeleyInspire, and California State University Berkeley that happened more or less in the last week! Let’s dig in!
Oski on a Go-Kart
We start this week with the biggest news of the week: Oski drove a Go-Kart. The ACC tournament is in full swing (and as I type this Cal is leading in the second OT please Bears win and get some rest.), and as such, the mascots are all in Charlotte doing mascot things. Including taking part in a Go-Kart race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. While footage is few and far between, our beloved benevolent Oski practiced some great driving safety. Look at this “Hands at 10 and 2” Form.
The Calgorithm has reacted accordingly.

Admin, if you’re reading this we need more Oski driving a car footage.
Give Big
Definitely not copy pasting this from last week…
“On Thursday, March 13, 2025, you are invited to be the light for Berkeley during Big Give. This annual day of giving celebrates our collective power to ignite innovation, fuel life-changing research, and brighten the future for countless students. During Big Give, contests and matches spark friendly competition, the hashtag #CalBigGive builds awareness and excitement, but it’s your dedication and generosity that truly shine as we empower Berkeley to change the world.”
Alright thank you copy paste from the Berkeley Big Give Website I’ll take it from here. Big Give is next week and man oh man are there a lot of good places in need of good money from people that can give it! Scroll down to the bottom here for the full list of every fund you can give to. As a Cal Band alum may I recommend throwing a few buckaroos to Cal Band. Or if you enjoyed watching Cal Ice Hockey streams, maybe throw them a few pucks (the joke is that pucks rhyme with bucks!) Or! Print out the full Student Group list and throw a dart board at one! You can’t go wrong! Thanks in advance for your support!
Women’s History Month
March is Women’s History Month and the Bears are celebrating by highlighting some student athletes in Women’s Sports including Jessie Rose of Women’s Water Polo and Grace Reinhardt of Track and Field so far. Campus wide, the university is also promoting stories of students and alumni, including Barbara Goodson (‘81), the current Director of Advancement for the Cal Band. Keep an eye out for more features this month and we’ll do our best to promote them here!
