In this weekly write up, we try our best to cover all things Cal, Berkeley, Bearkeley, UC Berkeley, University of Cal Berkeley, University of Berkeley at Cal, BerkeleyInspire, and California Berkeley University that happened more or less in the last week! Let’s dig in!

By my math and hand calculation, that Bear is running about a 6.4 second 40 time, which is a solid start but is going to need some work if they want to make it to the NFL. Might I suggest Cal Footballs new Strength and Conditioning Program?

Berkeley news this week featured UC Berkeley Rhetoric Professor Winnie Wong describing her time in Dafen, a rural village in China near Hong Kong that has made a mini-industry of replica oil paintings. It’s an interesting article and something well outside of anything I would ever read, but I’m glad I did. Give it a read here.

Golden Bear Honors

• Fanduel released their All-Name Team and it includes Defensive Lineman Legend Journey

• Claire Weinstein took bronze in the 200m freestyle at the World Aquatics Championships. Claire also took silver in the 800m freestyle relay.

• Jack Alexy set the American Record with the 3rd faster time ever in the 100m freestyle to advance to the finals. Jack would finish in 2nd place overall in the finals. Jack also took Bronze in the 50m freestyle. Oh and Gold in the 4x100m free relay while also setting a world record.

• Ella Wheeler and Team USE Took Silver in the U23 World Rowing Championships in the Women’s Eight category

• Gabriel Jett finished 4th in the 4x200m Free Relay

• Dare Rose and Jack Alexy won bronze in the 4x100m medley relay.

• Noe Morales was named MVP of Nike’s Toma LA 2025 Street Soccer Tournament
