The playoffs have nothing to do with FSU leaving, it's all about the money, or lack thereof, in the ACC. The playoff snub was nothing more than fuel to the fire. Now go read FSUs amendment and get back to me on who has the upper hand.

Such a great, accessible analysis. Thank you! Feels like we got a free consultation.

Seems like FSU feels they have nothing to lose and the ACC feels they have everything to lose. If FSU was thinking they could use this as a negotiation ploy, they miscalculated horribly.

FSU seems to be in the throes of an emotional frenzy. Reminds me of the frantic demands to fire Clay Helton when $C lost to Cal. 😂

As you state, Nick, the rational position is to keep winning and they will do that best in the ACC. Duh. With winning comes $.

Thanks for the writeup, Twist. #6. is pretty interesting. Feels like FSU has really boxed themselves in here. It’s difficult to imagine a scenario where their base would ever be comfortable recommitting to the ACC for any period, but at the same time it’s really unclear what their SEC / B1G prospects are. They certainly won’t have a ton of leverage once they are able to extricate themselves from the ACC by buying themselves out or through negotiation.

Great job Twist!

Thanks for taking us through the legalese and putting the ACC and FSU arguments in plain language. If the venue is established in NC instead of FL and a judge and/or jury basically agree with your take, it appears FSU is ACC’s merch through the mid-30’s and will enjoy several trips to Cal & Palo Alto.

There will come a point before ‘36 when they will be able to justify and afford to wrangle themselves loose. Question now is more about when than if, although the landscape could dramatically change before they get there.

UNC’s press release is just them whining that they also would like more money. The reality of the Board of Governors vote to force approval of any realignment is very much to protect NC State if UNC tries to leave, lol. They will try their damndest to handcuff them together.

Cool story bro.

A lot of plot holes in this story, but enjoyable none-the-less. Solid B-movie material.

I'm coping as hard as I can! My only wish is that FSU fans such as yourself know how much I appreciate you gracing our finished fanbase with your eminent presence on our humble gathering site. Why else would you be here were it not for your boundless empathy and generosity?! Couldn't possibly be a deep-seated desire to spread toxicity based on unchecked delusions of grandeur....

I can confirm that he is a very real lawyer. But if you'd prefer to believe that everybody that happens to disagree with you is a big ole lying phony, you have that right.
