The rumor is that he is about to jumped in the org chart by another incoming LB. With just a single year of eligibility I can absolutely forgive him. But Furd? Really? That's a bridge too far, man. I'll never understand why some of these guys squander the equity they develop with a fanbase by choosing a close rival or leaving in a messy way (Ott, Jet, Nando, Andrej). Maybe time heals all wounds, but I'd prefer not to see any of these dudes on campus for a couple decades at least.
Stanford has some top graduate schools, depending on course of study. Assuming he is planning on getting a second degree, and not playing in the NFL, it might be a good move for him. Wish him well.
Today, NIL is the god that rules college football and is worshipped by college football players. Players will sacrifice their honor, offer their own mothers & sisters for a few more snaps.
Writing grand statements of how much Cal has done for them on the way out the door is the very definition of hypocrisy. I'd rather they forgo that stupidity and be on their way.
Sure. For me, what would be best for my future would be to develop the contacts I hall made at Cal, honor the time, development, and coaching investment in me, pursuing NIL at Cal, use Cal resources as the spring board to my next career step, etc. Stanurd's program is a train wreck, plain & simple. How is joining a bunch of losers w "what's best"?

Disappointed by this. I liked Hunter and thought he had put himself into a solid position to earn a starting role. Not sure the move to Stanfurd is a good one with their tumultuous situation and a long term interim coach. But, I wish him the best. At least he can say he went to school at two of the best universities in the world.
He wasn't going to get much playing time considering the kid from CSU stepping in and having a good spring camp. Plus, I'm sure they got more LB talent coming in....
At least he went somewhere that could help him after football. Best of luck Barth.
stolen from elsewhere, but the most likely reason is he got tired of having the Axe and wanted to see what it's like to not have it.

Doncal, this is not the place, not the time for such pragmatism and thoughtfulness. :)

Dont judge so you won’t be judged. Put yourself in their position. Examine your conscience. Wouldn’t you do what is best for your future?

You’ve tried the best, now try the rest.

He doesn't need to go to two of the best if he already went to the best university in the world.
Yes!
Maybe he likes Taco Bell and wants to attend a university that has buildings that look like Taco Bell? Good luck to him!
Hunter Barth is dead to me.

He was a valuable player; he was dependable and smart and ran hard to the ball. He seemed to be getting better each year. Ugh..
StanfUrd wannabes and sympathizers are often revealed upon graduation. How could you fight for that tree?
Congrats on your degree! Now we must crush you.
What the F is going on. Usually it's 3rd and 4th stringers leaving for more playing time but these leavers all were starters or co starters.
