I don't know if I liked the football game more or the chocolate malt my Dad bought me at my first Cal game in ca. 1972, but I've loved the Bears ever since. I remember getting one of those (obnoxious) plastic horns they used to let you blow to make noise, and the people in front of us nearly losing their sh$t. I have no idea if Cal won the first game I attended or not......I wish I had a pic, like you. Love them Bears. Love them. Go Cal!!!!
Excellent intro Rick. I attended a Cal game when I was in high school. It was the game where the freshman Russell White had a 99 yard kick-off return for a TD against Miami. I knew I had to apply to Cal, which was not necessarily the school I was planning to go to at the time.
"Before we knew it, he was packing his bags for four years in Lexington, Ky."
