Men's Basketball Insta-Recap: Arizona Dominates Cal, 91-65
The Wildcats pounce on Cal early and never look back
Arizona’s Oumar Ballo had 9 points in the first 4 minutes of the game, as Arizona rushed out to an early 29-11 lead and cruised to the 91-65 win.
Ballo set the tone inside, as Cal could never get anything going towards the basket. He finished the first half with 11 points and 8 rebounds in only 10 minutes of playing time. Arizona leads the nation in rebounding margin, with +12 rebounds per game. Tonight the Wildcats outrebounded the Golden Bears 51-32, for a +19 margin.
Cal shot 37% for the game, including 7-of-28 from 3-point range. Jaylon Tyson played 30 minutes after missing the last 10 minutes of Saturday’s game with cramps. He finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Technical difficulties with the PAC-12 Network caused a broadcast outage for the last 13 minutes of the telecast. The game was decided by that point.
Cal will look to rebound on Saturday when the face the Arizona State Sun Devils at noon, on the PAC-12 Network.
Honestly? We desperately need to develop Curtis and recruit bigs. Aimaq ain't it. I appreciate that he has helped bring us back to this point where our expectations are back. But he only plays like one half of offense at a time and doesn't really play defense. His rebounds are because he doesn't defend and just waits for th e ball.
Having actual presence in the paint is going to be what elevates us.
Also, we're really missing Askew. Imagine if he were starting and Cone came off the bench instead.
When they start that hot and you start that cold....it's an uphill battle. Sad to go out like that, but we're not in the same class, apparently.
