Men's Basketball Insta-Recap: Cal Beats Cal State Bakersfield 83-63
Jalen Cone leads a balanced scoring attack
All 5 Golden Bears starters scored in double digits as Cal beat the CSU-Bakersfield Roadrunners 83-63. Cal built a 15-point halftime lead and the lead shrank to 9 early in the second half.
Cal’s front-court trio of Fardaws Aimaq, Grant Newell and ND Okafor struggled with fouls all game, with Aimaq fouling out with just under 6 minutes left. The backcourt trio of Jalen Tyson, Jalen Cone and Devin Askew kept things under control. Cal was able to get to the foul line early and often in the second half, and maintained control en route to the 20 point win.
Jalen Cone led the Golden Bears with 23 points.
Now the object is to accumulate Cones. Or Cones Wins. But, in order to get a Cone, you have to build a civilization. The other amazing thing is the Challenge Play
Okafor showed more tonight than he has in the first few games. Good to see.
