UCLA FB is projected to earn $70 million plus in revenue from the Big Ten in terms of TV revenue. Just used some of that $$$ to land the #1 player in the portal. Cal's ACC revenue share is what $7-10 million? Plus they get a handout back from UCLA of $10 million. There is little question that Big Ten Football is a level above the ACC. Cannot put all that on Cal's Coaches. And look who is heading UCLA's recruiting, none other than former Cal Coach Toler. Good luck to Jaivian.
Take a look at Brandon High tangibles, 5-10 3/4 204. Has ran a 10.67 100 meters! Plus he is a bigger back with hands and can block. Check the tape on this kid. Looks like we are getting a possible upgrade?
Good call. Maybe we should also get Gavin Sawchuk from OU, they took Ott, let's get one of their RBs. And of course, let's not forget CharMar Brown! Rebuild the room!
This is just one more example of why athletics (especially football and basketball) are important to the overall health of our university. Thomas is going to play for a brand (yes, I said it) that will have constant TV exposure which means it will get more applicants every year which means it can constantly say "#1 public university" which will in turn drive more alumni engagement and donations. I pray that the new administration can salvage us from the mess left by the old administration. The future of our alma mater may really depend on it.
Dudes! Will be ok, but I do agree that I enjoy the “more reasons to hate UCLA” point. Their delivery of the kill shot to the Pac12 Conference is just an absolutely unforgivable sin, and they should be hated for eternity for it. I really dislike them much more than Furd now.
I really hate to see Jaivian Thomas go but, as Pappy Waldorf once told me, "good running backs are a dime a dozen but linemen are hard to find." So as deehart mentioned in their comment, I'd be more concerned if all the O linemen left. Yes, I'm old enough to talk to Pappy Waldorf. I since became a football coach for 41 years and remembered those words which helped me in all those years.
Yep, I like the Jett too! He was set up to be our #1 running back but seems to have gotten a bit greedy and at odds with the Harsin and his system. Oh well, next man up.
It hurts losing a hometown hero, especially to UCLA. They think they're god's gift to public education because they paid to skew one ratings system, and they think they're the premier college sports program because they rode SC's coattails into going 3-6 in the big ten. I'll be rooting for the Jet in life, but I sure hope the Bears cave his chest in when he comes back to Memorial Stadium.
It's a bit concerning but I'd be more concerned if we had all of the offensive line leave. I'm not sure how big the gap is between Thomas and a 'replacement level' back, I really don't know. Boise State will have likely a harder time replacing Jeanty than the Bears will have replacing Ott (who we really didn't have in 2024) and Jet.

Again....sigh.
A.H.
Good luck Jett!

Great story! Can’t wait for you to comment more about your commentary on some of the plays and in particular linemen play.

Every player they steal from us should up the Calimony payments.
$1 million per transfer.
Good luck winning more than 3 games in the Big10
Notice, the new backs can catch the ball out of the backfield. Harsin runs a spread offense. Rb, OL and TE have to pass protect.
Ok...yeah, move on, its competition. Every year a player should feel like their job is going to be taken from them! No one should feel comfortable.
Ott was good at catching passes too.
What did you think about his blocking?
A sad day in bear territory !!!!

At this point, they should just let us play Marshawn Lynch.
Considering the lack of NCAA oversight nowadays, it's probably worth trying.
I wish he'd become our running backs coach. Imagine how awesome that would be for recruiting.
No team I hate more than the bruins of Southern Branch. Now I have more incentive to root against them.
I hate USC more, but I still have plenty of hate to give UCLA.
