Well, the older generations didn't really have a chance to get impatient and change their minds. Once they committed and enrolled, it was a lot harder to move to another school. Now it's easy.

Austin Hinder would have easily transferred in today's system.
He stayed for 5 years without ever starting and HC change.
He had offers from Alabama, Notre Dame, etc. out of HS.
