Jaylinn Hawkins selected in the 4th round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Falcons
Congrats to the Hawk!
Cal now has two new safeties in the NFL! Ashtyn Davis went to the New York Jets yesterday, and now his partner joins him.
Jaylinn Hawkins was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the 4th round of the 2020 NFL Draft with the 134th pick. Hawkins was one of 3 Cal players to participate in the 2020 Draft Combine, along with Davis and Evan Weaver.
He played in all 50 games from 2016-2019 and finished with 158 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, 10 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles for his career. Hawkins was a ball-hawk, finding ways to create turnovers that others had trouble doing.
Cal fans will remember Hawkins for his 3 interception performance at the Cheez-It Bowl in 2018, which would have him selected as the Defensive Player of the Game. He also registered a two-interception performance against North Carolina, and landed this beauty in the 2019 Big Game.
Congrats to Jaylinn!
DeCoud and Conte had solid NFL careers as safety. Hope Hawkins can keep the trend going.
Wonderful!!
