I reminded myself in reading this that I was a high school recruit in 1968 when I was invited to hang on the sidelines to watch Cal play Syracuse. I loved the orange uniforms and as I recall Syracuse had an all time great RB by the name of Floyd Little. I was expecting a very close game but Cal’s defensive line was anchored by one of the best ever: Ed White. He later became a multi year all pro as an NFL guard but wow was he a hurricane force on Cal’s Dline. Hopefully today someone on Cal’s Dline will remind me of him today. Cal’s offense in 68 was very low scoring but that defense was unreal tough and intimidating, leading to the unexpected 40something - 0 win. Very surprising but the D set the tone that day for the O

Troy Nunes was an Orange QB shortly after McNabb left, and the phrase "Nunes is An Absolute Magician!" was a broadcast call for a game tying touchdown at Auburn.
