Know The Enemy: Boston College Football 2025
Will the (Boston College) Eagles ever fly again?
This week we check in with Brett Rider, co creator of Eagles Daily, and overall good guy, to see what the vibes are like ahead of tomorrow’s conference meetup with Boston College.
1. What are the vibes on the Bill O’Brien regime after a rocky start this year?
Vibes aren’t great right now. Bill O’Brien has been pegged as a savior for Boston College, and as a local Boston guy it seemed like he got the landscape and everything that came with the challenges at BC to succeed. This is the first time that there is some real doubt since he got here. Most, if not all, still believe in Bill and his ability to transform BC, but it’s been really tough to watch them falter the way they have. the 2OT MSU loss was excusable, but losing to Stanford was not. He was quoted as saying it was on the coaching, and they sucked that night, but cannot allow that. It’s been a rocky road as BC has won 8 games since 2009, and it seems like we’re headed for another 7-6 season AT BEST!
2. Who’s an Offensive player Cal fans should look out for?
Offensively, wide receiver Lewis Bond has been the top, consistent option for a 3rd season in a row. With his usage as high as ever this season, he now has 29 catches in just 3 games.
The man throwing him the ball Dylan Lonergan has really transformed the offense into one of the best passing attacks in the ACC. Thus far, he has been everything you would expect an Alabama transfer to be.
3. Who’s a Defensive player Cal fans should look out for?
Q Hutchins has done his best to replace Donovan Ezeiruaku. Tough task for anyone, but look for the long defensive end to get after the QB on saturday.
4. What portal editions are working out so far?
As mentioned above, Dylan Lonergan has been a slam dunk at QB. His style and arm ability fit O’Brien’s offense perfectly. He makes throws we haven’t seen here since the Matt Ryan days. Very careful with the ball too. A tough pick-six last week, and a fumbled snap that wasn’t his fault, but overall he’s been fascinating to watch.
5. How do you see this game going?
This game has all the makings for a shoot out, does it not? BC has struggled defensively so far, and Cal having a stud of their own under center makes me believe this will undoubtedly been a slugfest. Furthermore, with it being a 3:30 EST kick off, it’s really a noon kick for Cal. That should allow the Bears to settle in quickly and not be asleep. Personally, I was hoping it would be early for them and BC could catch them in an awkward time, but, an air raid in Chestnut Hill will be fun too.
6. Score prediction?
Give me 34-31 BC. The Eagles are not in a MUST WIN week, and falling on their faces at home would really create turmoil. I’m expecting BOB to really rally the troops here.
7. Whom would you most like to punch in the face?
Jim Boeheim. Eff that guy.

It seems I have two extra tickets to the BC game today -- LMK if you're interested -- gratis for Cal fans if you buy me beer ; ) Will probably park at the chestnut hill mall.
Who's the BC correspondent? The guy with the mic?
