NCAA to Grant Student-Athletes Participating in Spring Sports an Extra Year of Eligibility
A new decision in the light of the Covid-19 pandemic shutting down NCAA sports for the year.
This decision comes after the committee decided to shutter the men’s and women’s championship events for Winter/Spring sports and March Madness. This does not include basketball (both men’s and women’s) since it is classified as a winter sport.
The NCAA will grant an extra year of eligibility for student-athletes who participated in spring sports.
Here is the list of sports affected:
Basketball, swimming and diving, and gymnastics are all classified as winter sports by the NCAA.
Non-Cal: Man, I really feel for Obi Toppin (Dayton) and Sabrina Ionescu (Oregon) - who were putting together special special seasons.
