Chris shows us McCoy's 71 yard TD versus UNLV last week. That plays scares me a bit. It's OSU in 10 personnel with trips to the field side on 3rd & 7. UNLV goes man, shows 6 rushers, and drops #9 deep. On snap, UNLV rushes hard (not collapsing the pocket) and the OSU receivers run typical route tree routes. Nobody accounts for McCoy, with two steps up field, he's off. The OSU receivers get in the way but don't block and #9 takes an atrocious angle (like it was me running) that #4 or #2 would never take. Nonetheless, that's a 30-40 yard run against us.
I really hope in any man coverage there's a spy (even #3 moving into that with his speed) and that we can play some significant zone.
Really hoping we manage to squeak this one out, as Oregon State has become the most obnoxious college football fan base in the nation. They’re simply awful.
They have been we on the way to Oregon- level obnoxious since the early 2000s. Back in my day, OSU was the cupcake of the PAC 8. All that bitterness has come back to the surface. Best if this is regarded as a rivalry game. They have turned to the Darkside.
Great breakdown, Chris. I am officially over the devastation of last week and looking forward to Saturday. This will be a good game. Oregon State will be highly motivated.
Thank you for the excellent preview, Chistopher. We have a crew heading down to the game and we are looking forward to it. It is a family tradition, Bears and Beavers. In spite of the spread, I am thinking Cal has a 50/50 chance to win. Would be a wonderful surprise if Cal could run the ball throughout the game. Any game really. Ah well, Go Bears!
While you have to at least be aware of Jam Griffin, especially since Trent Bray and OC Ryan Gunderson do something out of the blue every game, there is a 95% chance you won't see Griffin, much less see him on the field. However, he and Anthony Hankerson were used interchangeably as far a play selection and style was concerned, trying to balance the load. None of this is a secret, so its not as if this is giving away the game plan.
The bigger issue for the running game is the lack of depth on the O-line, with several linemen out for the season, and more importantly, C Van Wells not always being able to stay on the field (again, widely known and discernable from the participation report) all game, and Luka Vincent delivering a lot of snaps.

New season starts tomorrow. We're 0-0.
This looks like an offense good enough to beat us by 1 point.

Uh Oh, have they become more obnoxious than Ducks fans?
On social media, absolutely IMO.

Oh we will run it for 1 yard gains and a cloud of dust.
They have one of the worst run defenses in college football, so chances are we will.
