Advanced statistical analysis can provide unique insight by highlighting obscure but fascinating patterns in data. That is the basis of this series where we have highlighted a variety of different types of Cal games, some differing in rather obvious ways (Good vs. Bad) and some differing in rather subtle ways (Bizarro Games vs. Pillowfights). And sometimes there is very little to be gained from advanced analysis. Saturday’s game was such a game. There is no depth, no nuance, no profound understanding to be had here. This game was three hours of bad football to close out a very disappointing first season in the ACC.
