Ahh, the annual joy of trying to contextualize FCS game numbers. I do think that 2023 Idaho is the best FCS team Cal has faced in the Wilcox era (if not ever) and so I think that you can take more away from this game than other FCS games. Hell, Idaho might be better than North Texas.

Still, everything I took away from the Idaho game was viewed through the prism of “what does this say about our chances against the Pac-12 generally and Washington specifically?”

And, well . . . let’s say I’m fascinated about the matchup between what MIGHT be the best defense in the Pac-12 (with apologies to Utah) and what MIGHT be the best offense in the Pac-12 (with absolutely zero apologies to USC). National audiences exhausted from an epic day of college football match-ups will probably find something worth watching if they stay up late.
