PFF weekly: Colorado review, UW preview
Are there glimmers of hope against a scary UW offense and pass rush?
This week’s PFF review is a good time to remind everybody that PFF grades are NOT opponent adjusted. We know that playing a close game against Oregon is much more impressive than playing a close game against Colorado, or that tackling Marshawn Lynch is more impressive than tackling Trent Edwards, but PFF grades have no meaningful way of taking opponent quality into account.
As a result, the grades that you’ll see below will likely look better than you might expect. There are also some surprises, which I think actually reveals the usefulness of these kinds of metrics. Let’s dive in:
