I feel like I'm in an abusive relationship with cal football... I'll forgive you for what happened last saturday if you win this next one...

My default Cal stance:

"I have a bad feeling about this."

Honestly, we need to use all our Jedi mind tricks on these away games. Think Auburn.

Any Eastern Bears making the trip to Pitt?

I watched a few minutes of the post Miami presser. Wilcox was down, Nando and Uluave were down. I hope Wilcox recovers and gets the team fired up for this game.

Tuesday presser was better.

Yeah, they need to put it behind them and charge forward.

I don't know how I'm going to follow the game if Pitt wears those Joe Roth throwback unis

LOL. I know, confusing, right?

Small chance I actually end up celebrating a Pitt TD

I sure hope you are right in your conclusion. Go Bears!

Is it me, or does Pitt feel a bit like looking at a mirror? I’m not just talking about the abbreviated script logo. Feels like both programs sort of occupy a similar position in the overall college football hierarchy.

Wilcox has a losing record after seven seasons with a 21-40 conference record. There is no other head coach in Power 4 football that had that kind of futility over that period. Pat Narduzzi at Pitt has a 70-50 overall record and had an 11-win season in 2021. He is also finding a way to win the close ones this year. Wilcox can flip that script with a road win over a ranked team on Saturday. Otherwise, these teams are not in the same space.

7.5 years of data says Wilcox does not win this game.

Our Doppleganger, except they are 5-0.

Hopefully, we challenge them.

Go bears and fire Wilcox

A 3rd cross-continent road trip, playing a ranked & undefeated opponent in a notably hostile home environment, after consecutive losses that were at least largely of Cal's own doing and short-comings, and "...struggle to see what could go wrong for Cal here." is an interesting perspective. What exactly couldn't go wrong here? For any team, much less the unsteady Golden Bears?

The CBS commentators said it best - Pitt wins close games while Cal loses them

Expand full comment

Guess we better hope it's not close, then! Imagine the UC Davis and SDSU games. Pitt would have fell behind by 20+ and came back in the 4th quarter. Should you be getting kudos for winning close games over weak opponents?

C’mon, man. West Virginia, Cincinnati and at UNC are not weak opponents.

I mean, I watched the games. I said what I said.

> Insert GSP "I'm not impressed with your performance"

Maybe I'll look foolish tomorrow, we'll see. But I stand by what I said, Cal will have the talent advantage.

I’m definitely not saying you’re foolish, as you are certainly a sharp MF’er…but I just don’t think Pitt’s 5-0 start is some mirage.

We’ll see Sat, but there’s very little in Wilcox’s history that says he should be counted on to go on the road and beat a good conference opponent.

But we’ll see….

someone tell Wilcox the P12 is resurrected and Pitt is an out of conference game

I hope to Hell that you're right.
