True. But when u go to man against the QBs we are about to face those QBs will have huge days running the ball. In man the DB mostly has their back to the QB. Send all your WRs on fly patterns and that opens up running lanes for the QB. That said, Cal's zone coverage against Idaho was a problem in the 1st half.

I don't know why we don't have seam routes or drag routes across the field!?! Colorado State damn near beat Colorado with drag routes across the middle. They must have run like 20 drag plays, most of which worked. I wonder if Jackson can see over his line to complete passes in the middle?
I agree that man coverage puts out DBs on an island forcing them to focus on the receivers, and potentially puts us vulnerable to a running QB, but our zone coverage was hapless against a good passer and experienced receivers like those at Idaho. Our defensive line will need to do as much as they can to contain a running QB. I also agree about the drag routes, and the occasional use of a tight end down the middle as Colorado did in their overtime victory.
