Wilcox not naming his starting QB to keep UC Davis off balance? Really? I would argue whatever supposed benefit there is to surprising UC Davis, is more than offset by the poor planning, morale, and team cohesion not naming the QB causes. Maybe I'm wrong. But when I look at great programs in college football I see the vast majority name their starting QB, even after a contested camp, in advance of the first game. Given those programs have been much more successful than Cal I'm going to assume they are right and Wilcox is wrong.
Rutchena doesn't appear on the depth chart, so I guess that would make him the #5 TE. Also Liam Johnson is absent, so his injury must still be ongoing, just at the position where Rutchena was.
You state that there is a lack of depth at the inside linebacker position. My question is, why is Nate Rutchena working at tight end when he is a fully capable inside linebacker?
These past few years I’d wager that there was some depth in the room compared to now
With him already making the switch my guess is that coaches didn’t *want* to switch him back so late in his career. Could be faulty reasoning but that’s where my mind leads to
The O line has to produce this year for the really good RB's we have. Vatikani and Sessions are going to have a good year if they stay healthy. D line should be better than last year with the addition of Keanaaina from Notre Dame.
I'm a tad nervous about having Jadyn handling kick returns. I still have nightmares about the beat-downs taken by Jahvid Best. Overall, I'm impressed by the talent compiled through the Portal. Once again, it will be a question of how quickly they come together and how consistently they can play. Go Bears!

I think he wanted to make the change
Rutchena was such a promising player as a true freshman.
I remember him covering well in passing situations in particular

Did you intend to leave Justin Williams Thomas off the backup RB rotation? He looked pretty good coming in at the end last year.
Injured at spring game, hasn't participated much this fall to our knowledge.
Ah, thanks
