Thank you, W4C Academy.

*applause

I am the Recap and Reaction version of an edge rusher for sunshine.

*applause

Apparently.

*laugh track

Honestly, other than pass offense, giving credit to Hunter and some to SJV, I thought it was ugly with some real bright spots, such as the D's tough endzone stands, D's low score, Wilson, and Baghani.

*applause

I'll take all the lux I can get.

*laugh track and applause

Let's all hold this light moment in our minds as we enter the darkness of the remaining games on our schedule. And let us also remember that we appreciate each and every player, regardless of outcomes, because each one made a decision to represent our great university. We are the Alabama of public university academic excellence and, someday, our athletics programs, universally, also, will make that bold claim. So let's dig in and support our CalLegends NIL.

GO!

BEARS!

*applause, tears, roses thrown on stage

Love them Bears. Praise Oski.

*applause intensifies

*B80 wakes up

my favorite part is seeing Calamo's perfect scores, and then reading all the criticisms in his comments. 😀

It's now very apparent that Wilcox is no longer fielding elite defenses. During Fall camp, I read a lot about how deep the defensive back room was. Cal has now given up 387 yards, 389 yards and 362 yards through the air over the last three games, and the overall defense is ranked 9th in the conference. If they had a "receiver wide open" ranking, Cal would probably be last. In other words, those close ugly conference upsets that Cal eked out in 2018 and 2019 because of the defense are a thing of the past. With no upsets in the officing, it will be a 3-7 Cal team squaring off against Stanford. Wait a minute....wasn't it a 3-7 Cal team squaring off against Stanford last year?

Why do we have 2 DB coaches and 0 ST coaches with this level of defensive performance? Of course knowing how slowly Wilcox makes decisions, I expect we will continue to have 2 DB coaches well into the 2024 football season.

Pawlawski pointed out that pass defense gimmes came down to 3-4 explosive plays with missed assignments.

Seemed like at least a few more than that. ASU passing yards per game: Southern Utah, 236 yards; Oklahoma State, 167 yards: Fresno State 188 yards; USC, 221 yards; Cal, 362 yards. And they did that with a guy who got beat out by a true freshman on the depth chart.

Pawlawski counted about 142 from 3 fuck-ups. So, minus those outliers, about 222 yards.

The guy is not a Power 5 caliber Head Coach.

Not sure why it is so hard for some portions of the fan base to wrap their heads around this fact. He’s even managed to take the wind out of the Spavital offense…tough to do.

I mean that same Spavital offense went 13-35 at Texas State…

Sure, but that’s Texas St., where they practiced at the local HS.

Spav as a P5 OC had a pretty well defined floor, until he finally hooked up with Justin Wilcox. Just saying.

Spavital spent almost the whole 15 minutes of his press conference yesterday talking about how Jackson needs to stay in the pocket and complete check-downs to open receivers. Sorry if this dates me, but I think of that tape melting in the opening of the Mission Impossible TV series from the 60's.

Are we sure the kid is a Power 5 QB? He seriously might be better suited to WR at this level, as his speed belongs on the field.

Or put him in the Wildcat. Oregon State crushed it with the Wildcat last year with a guy - Jack Colletto - who would get trounced by Jackson in a foot race.

And Texas St new coach GJ Kinne has that same team 4-1. Just saying.

To quote Bill Paxton in Aliens, “why don’t you put her in charge.”
