First off, this is my favorite series on the site. Secondly, I can't believe I'm not only a voice of reason but one high up at the list...I must know this team too well. They better be able to turn it around because they really pissed me off and I think it showed in the rating the game form.
There's one new thing. For the first time ever, a public university is ranked #1 on the Forbes list of top US colleges. Go Bears! https://www.forbes.com/top-colleges/
Tahoe Blue: Thanks for that article. Now I have something to show my Bruin wife after we get pummeled this December. I hate to say this, but FUCLA may be for real this year. I know that there is a lot of football left but they looked impressive the last two weeks. They were playing with a lot of swagger in those games. I know that everyone is hoping desperately for a Chip Kelly face-plant, but I just don't see it coming.....Uggghhhh.......
I’ve always wondered how to make sense of all the college ratings that come out. Now I see that it’s simple; Forbes knows how to judge universities and everyone else’s ratings are wrong.
I’d be interested to know which games in the Wilcox era were graded lower. Looks like this was only fourth lowest for coaching and ninth lowest for overall. Anybody know?
The only game that I might rate slightly lower than this one was last year against Oregon State. About a minute left in the fourth quarter, Cal is down by five and they have a first and goal inside the OSU ten and all of their time outs. What does Musgrave do? He calls for a FRICKIN PASS on first down! Ball deflected, intercepted, game over. Cal's play calling under Musgrave has been horrible/baffling since he came on board. There has got to be a young offensive mind out there who can do better and we need to find him FAST!
That Utah game gets a pass but I was at that UCLA disaster and boy there were about 2,000 people left in the final minute, one of which was me all alone in section R while my parents waited at the top of the stadium.
Hmmm. Usually I'm in the Voice of Reason. Now I am amongst the most pessimistic Old Blues. The coaching FAIL was just that. The players do what they are coached to do. Bad schemes and bad in game decisions are upon the shoulders of the well-compensated staff.
Agree for the most part, as I am no fan of Musgrave or Sirmon, but players don’t get a pass and have to shoulder some blame...coaches don’t coach them to drop passes & make bad mistakes. Garbers especially needs to be play better for a guy of his experience, tho in fairness, that Ole Miss game is looking like a total outlier.
At the end of the day, maybe a carousel of 3* recruits are playing like 3* recruits. And just like that, this squad looks like a 5-win team at best.
I think Musgrave needs to get his ass in the box instead of the sideline. This is a simple change that COULD provide him w/ a different perspective. And grow a pair of cajones man!!
I hope there are some changes to the starting lineup this week...y'all know which player/position I'm referring to.
Garbers simply shouldnt be QB1 in this offense. I'm all for Millner, if that means simplifying the playbook a little, and even if that means the win/loss result at the end of the year is the same or worse as it would've been with Chase.. if there's going to be any value then let it be in a rebuild. I'd like my gut to be wrong and for things to turn around with Chase at the helm if he does stay in, but it just seems very unlikely. Unfair and bad comparison, but I kept thinking about Tua replacing Jalen Hurts, getting inserted into that championship game as a true freshman and changing the entire complexion and confidence of their offense. I felt like that could've/would've happened in the 4th Q of the Nevada game.
Something has to change so 100% in. Frankly be it a coach or manger in the business world, we've all had tough decisions to make on personnel ~ but I sure as hell would not strap my livelihood to one person producing the same results. I keep thinking Wilcox is smart enough to know that but now I find myself in the beginning stages of doubt. We ABSOLUTELY need to see another QB or 2 in these next 2 games.

Ratings don't mean anything, unless we're #1, then I'm sharing that article everywhere.
That's great news.

He's only been our OC for 5 games, and already there are so many inexplicable decisions like that! I can't wrap my head around it.
The top three lowest scores for coaching and overall are the same:
1. 2019 Utah (L 0-35)
2. 2018 UCLA (L 7-37)
3. 2017 UW (L 7-38)
That Utah game gets a pass but I was at that UCLA disaster and boy there were about 2,000 people left in the final minute, one of which was me all alone in section R while my parents waited at the top of the stadium.
Thank you for the info! And here's to hoping they stay the three lowest...
I'd assume Utah 2019 was #1
I’d wager 2020 Big Game is in there.

I’m all for Millner to get a lot of snaps against Sac State.
