Seriously, how is it that Tony Gonzales (tight end from Cal) wasn't included in the inaugural class?

He was the first person i thought of too. Maybe they're saving him to be a big splash inductee once it's up and running, hehe.

Or Joe “One Tough Chicano” Kapp? Or do inductees have to be living?

Both Tiny Gonzales & Joe Kapp more than worthy for inclusion. Gladly, this isn't a "one time only" honor. They should be included in futre sets of inductees.

Congratulations, you earned it Coach Rivera! Thank you for coming back to Cal. Also, maybe Coach Tosh could use a nice suit too. Never mind, just kidding, leave him just as is. Go Bears!

OMG, you're right! I can't believe I forgot Joe Kapp! QB the last time Cal went to the Rose Bowl!

Ron's humility shines, another mark of his All-American stature, another reason for us to be fortunate we're Golden Bear current students, athletes and alumni. Thank you Ron!

To achieve success requires effort. And the respect we should have for successful people should be proportional to what they had to overcome to be successful. A white guy from an affluent educated family who goes to Yale, may still have been sexually abused and face demons. But race is an unavoidable burden to people, still. And it was especially in the past. So congratulations to Ron and the whole Hispanic Hall of Fame group, for achieving success despite how they experienced discrimination.
