Can't say that I am surprised at all, but it's still frustrating to see Cal being crushed in T1 right now against No.1 Oklahoma. Thought Archer looked good but she could only get one out. It's already 5-0 Sooners and still just one out.

Results on the field aside, the Cal team does appear to still have a lot of energy. Bears got nothing to lose and should embrace playing in front of a full house.

6-0 Sooners now.

I just checked in before heading out for the afternoon. Down 16-3 in the fourth. I'm guessing Cal used up some of their top pitchers in all the games they had to play to get to this game? Or maybe Oklahoma is just really that good.

Oklahoma run-ruled opponent as often as not this year. Among other things they run-ruled Furd 10-1, UCLA 14-0, Kentucky (#17 at the time) 18-0, Auburn (#19 at the time) 14-0, and Missouri 11-0 in their first game of the regional. Scoring 3 runs doesn't sound like much, but they just 8 games this year when they allowed 3 or more, and they never allowed more than 4.

Overall it was a decent showing in the regional and a decent season. The team had the offense to hang with the high rollers but it didn't have the pitching. It could have used Kamalani Dung or Nisa Ontiveros (let alone Jolene Henderson). Maybe one of the pitchers will take a big step next year and the team will make some real noise.

Cal gets past Mizzou 7-5 despite allowing HRs on three consecutive at bats at one point, setting up a long-odds matchup with Oklahoma tomorrow.
