Terrific, now we can all get hammered

Before the game starts, not a well thought out plan.

I hate all late night games. Wont get out until 11 pm.

Whaa?! HELL to the YASSSS to the home opener under the lights on ESPN, against SEC Auburn and an early Happy Hour tailgate party on a Saturday...LFG!!! #GoBears

Oski Disciple's avatar

And the hell with the kids and older people for whom night games are a no-go. More important for people who do go to get wasted.

napabear's avatar

Think More Pre-Game, More Pre-Game, More Pre-Game.

Justbear's avatar

2 out of 3 are 1pm games though

I live walking distance from the stadium but still hate the late starts. More importantly I know elderly fans and fans with kids who can't/won't go to night games and many other fans who are inconvenienced by them getting home in the wee hours. I long for the old days when all games started in the afternoon at the same damn time.

I have two young kids and they'll be going to their first game at the UNT game (we live in Austin). If it were a night game, we'd still make it work. While I empathize with the sentiment of not preferring night games, I'm OK with having some night games mixed in even if it's inconvenient for certain fans. I loved night games as an undergrad. Young fans who enjoy it matter too. They eventually grow up and hopefully become older fans who have great memories of night games, and stay connected to the team and program. :)

I will be at the Auburn game for sure

I know what I have to do now. I gotta keep breathing till September. Because tomorrow the sun will rise. Who knows what the SEC could bring?

Late kickoff against Auburn means less time for Hugh Freeze to find some postgame hookers.

napabear's avatar

Less post-game for Hugh, more pre-game for me!!! I’m still young enough to appreciate that.

The game will run past midnight Alabama time, that’s got to be good for Cal. Brings to mind the Lightning Bowl vs UW. That worked out pretty well.

OldSoCalBear's avatar

reminds me of the ole miss game - IIRC rebels faded in the second half

BrooklynBear's avatar

I imagine that 2024 game will be 11am local in Auburn not dissimilar to Ole Miss and if you're old enough the game at Maryland where Cal needed 2-3 quarters to wake up and would have won... if there was a 5th quarter!

napabear's avatar

That’s what I’m talking about!

He should be fine as long as he checks into the Motel 6 on University Ave

Stanfurdstinks's avatar

Don't understand why Pierre did not just go get a "massage" on San Pablo...

The question is, how do we sucker out Mr. Freeze the night before. Free craw fish boil with happy ending?

GEOBEAR's avatar

All games should start between noon and 1:30. Period.

TD_24's avatar

hmmm I feel like having a 3:30-4pm start wouldn't be so bad from time to time

diasfordays's avatar

I'm actually pretty excited to drive up to Denton for the UNT game. Neat.

TD_24's avatar

have a fun time!

diasfordays's avatar

Thanks, I intend to! :)

I moved back from Allen in 2013 when I got a job in Emeryville... this is probably the only time I will ever regret not being there on any one particular day.

diasfordays's avatar

There's enough time to plan out a trip! I'll buy you a beer! Haha

Rugbear's avatar

Love the 'home field advantage' vs. Auburn. 7:30 our time will be 9:30 their time...they be getting ready for bed.

ak_A_bear's avatar

Well, since I understand there is more piped in music......4th quarter lullaby or sleep wave music might be in order.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Auburn is literally the most inconvenient starting time possible for me…back in my drinking days I’da f-ing loved it, tho the fans around me maybe less so….guess this is my penance.

TD_24's avatar

we will see you at CMS

OldSoCalBear's avatar

I'm still in my drinking days, so I'm going to f-ing love it!

TKE Prytanis 79's avatar

counting the days...trying to figure out if I can get to town for Auburn...Go Bears!

Edward Bustamante's avatar

So far Colorado is kicking our butts on TV time, also!

Edward Bustamante's avatar

Why are we playing in Denton, TX.????

TD_24's avatar

I believe its the return trip from a home and home that was started in 2019

Edward Bustamante's avatar

I was being sarcastic. Why would we have a home and away agreement with N. Texas?

Stanfurdstinks's avatar

Also a potential trap game. Please, no fog.

Edward Bustamante's avatar

I was hoping to go to the Auburn game. Not at F!@#$!! 7:30!

deehart's avatar

N Texas and Idaho?? I guess we really want to get at least two non conference wins...

napabear's avatar

N Texas might not be a total gimme. They were a bowl team last year. Road game. First game with a new, inexperienced QB, first game for new offense. 1:00 PM kickoff in the height of the Texas summer. Anyone remember the Cal team that melted in Maryland a few years back? Wilcox has a good record with road openers in the South, plus they’ll get the benefit of the Bloesch scouting report since he was coaching there last year. Things should work out alright. I’m praying Cal can be halfway to bowl eligibility by the end of the non- conference schedule, 2-1 is a minimum. Make sure you have access to ESPNU for the N Texas game.

Yeah but we can focus on portal guys. How many 4 star freshmen are going to stay in the NIL grass is always greener age especially with Cal's academic load?
