Hope JKS can play. But perhaps being an underdog on the road will work for us- way less pressure than the 1st game with new coaches, high expectations at packed Memorial Stadium. GO BEARS!
When will Cal Football catch a break? Will the football gods ever be kind to us? What have we done to be so snakebit? First, we get humiliated by FUCLA. Then, our superstar QB gets injured in THE FIRST GAME!!!! Now we are underdogs to a Syracuse team that was picked to finish in the bottom half of the ACC. I've said this before and I'll say this again: There needs to be an exorcism at Memorial Stadium. Something has to be done to get rid of the dark cloud that always seems to follow our Golden Bears around the football field. I hope that Tosh turns out to be the same miracle worker that Tedford was.
JKS is not listed on the current injured list so not sure about his status. If he doesn’t play it will definitely be a tough game dependent on the run game with less balance from the passing game. A bounce back game would be great but I’m not sure there’s been enough time to make the kind of changes indicated by the UCLA game.
I’m hoping that UCLA is just a really good team and that Syracuse is a big step down in quality. We could use a break and for the other team to have a bad day.
Even with a healthy JKS, I think this game comes down to our running game: O line and RB Adam. If that’s working then everything else falls into place. I don’t mind sticking with the run game, even if it takes 2-3 quarters, but please add some variety. We don’t have the O line dudes to run up the middle most of the time.
Bounce-back Bears on the hunt! Beat ‘Cuse, crush the Orange! Go Cal!

I tried to cleanse the demons with alcohol at the game (several gin and tonics). I’ll switch to beer next time.
Shanghai: I like your style but I just can't drink like that anymore. I am cursed to be a sober Cal Football fan.

JKS is not playing this week. We'll see if we have good talent in the QB room without him.
Fake news
Anyone have any intel re JKS's real status for this week? I'm guessing he will play but it sure looks like he suffered a sprained ankle.
I hope it’s not as bad an ankle injury as some others we’re seen.
