Last week I was really worried about Nevada, watched the preview, and felt much more confident. This week I watched the preview and felt much worse. Please let the gods of contrarianism continue to reign.
If it works, I can definitely go with contrarianism and talk up each opponent like they're Alabama... but I might find it reaaaally hard to do during Big Game week.
To be fair, I did do the bulk of the work for this article preseason. If you had asked me prior to the Nevada game what I thought our chances were against TCU, I would have said it would be a real back-and-forth slugfest, total tossup. Now, obviously, nowhere near as confident in that prediction, but obviously I hope I am wrong again. With the way most of the Pac-12 North crashed and burned Week 1, I'd like to think it's just rust from a shortened season, and Cal will start playing true to form soon enough.
I don't speed up videos, but it's perhaps possible frames get dropped when converting to GIFs in order to save bandwidth. I debated this last week, but I could always post the clips I upload as well. For example, here is TCU's offense in video form: https://imgur.com/a/qWTdOrv
What a frightening, outstanding and well documented post. Wow. Love this stuff. Now I'm fully convinced we stand no chance whatsoever. How has that happened? We scored 17 against UNR. We will score 17 against TCU. Avinash posting that stat about in the Wilcox area the first team to get to 22 wins like 789-1. TCU will get to 22 first. I'm less polyanna than I used to be about Cal football. I really don't believe they will flip any swithces. I watched the coach and players videos last night like I always do, and neither Musgrave nor Sirmon had any real statements that indicated anything would be done differently. Just normal coach speak. I generally don't root for private schools, especially religious ones, but I agree TCU is Cal like in terms of football. I give us about a 10% chance or less of a W. Thanks, and bummer.
That could be great getting him involved. I was too depressed by the overall outcome to notice potentially hopeful details like that. I really love the LB/S hybrid potential. Sirmon talked about some new wrinkles in the defense, hopefully they can be brought to bear in a helpful way. Sooner rather than later.
Their QB kinda looks better than ours.

Agreed with everyone's shock! Next time we should do these previews BEFORE the season predictions......maybe we'll get them more right.

Amen, Brother!!!!
Hard to judge what speed the video was run at. If actual - then uh-oh

I could imagine a scenario where Cal highlights, say from Nevada, on a TCU site: "These seem too slow? Were they slowed down for analysis purposes?"
The clips literally have a running clock at the bottom. I used a stopwatch on my phone and confirmed that the videos are not sped up.
But I think the low fps makes them look jerkier and somehow faster.
SCIENCE!
Thanks now I’ll have Thomas Dolby running through my head the rest of the day

Agreed. Don't feel very sanguine about the game. Duggan looks too good to be contained and whether we will score enough points to win, I don't know.
Our vaunted linebackers could make a difference in containing Duggan if they really show up for this game.
Paster's skills may be of use this weekend. He looked good in the few plays he had last week.
