It’s a good question. The current playoff system - unless expanded even more - puts a greater emphasis on losses than on quality wins. So a win over a cupcake counts more than a close loss to a quality opponents. I think this is a shame but a reality
Given the talent of TSU’s band, this would have been a great day to bring in High school bands as an out reach program. This would give us a good bump in attendance= parents, other students etc… perhaps a portion of those would enjoy the football product and comeback for more…grassroots campaign.
While TSU is probably a good team and has a great band, not much buzz for a home opener after a nice win.
...Cal has major attendance problems and scheduling teams like TSU doesn't do much to excite anybody.
Yeah, we know why they do it but is a cheap win worth it ?

Wish I could be in Berkeley to see the TSU band... GO BEARS!

Great idea! Should email Cal athletics about it
I was at the Grambling game in 2015. Their band was definitely their highlight.
