Contrary to popular belief, the ACC was happy to accept Cal and SMU into their ranks with open arms. Stanford on the other hand, was more like the crummy cardboard McDonald’s toy that you get with your happy meal, regardless of whether or not the ACC wanted it.
Hello. I realized recently that I never formally introduced myself to the Write For California readership, so I thought I’d take the opportunity to do so now. My name is Callie Wake, I graduated from UC Davis in 2018 (Go Aggies!), and I am mostly involved in content creation and social media managing with Write 4 Cal.
In 2024, I created the Liberal Calgorithm account on X (formerly Twitter) and joined the Cal burners in creating memes. You’ve likely heard of my most notable creation to date: the Ott To Go music video. Although it was inadvertently, I’ve become part of the anonymous face of The Calgorithm.
I was indoctrinated into the Golden Bears faithful at 6 months old, when my Cal alum father took me to my first football game in 1995. During the Tedford era (until about 2009), I spent many a fall Saturday in Memorial Stadium with my dad and siblings, watching my idols like Rodgers, Lynch, Best, Longshore, Jackson, and Forsett play college ball. Those are some of my favorite memories.
In my free time—when I’m not posting on X (formerly Twitter)—I enjoy watching shows on streaming services with my beautiful wife Violet, playing video games, spending time with our three cats, and going out for fun adventures with friends. I also still attend games with my dad, we have a tradition of going to one non-conference Cal game (usually the FCS opponent) and then one game at UC Davis.
I can be found only on Twitter and Blue Sky. Thank you readers for the warm welcome I’ve received thus far with Write For California. I am beyond honored to be a part of the conversation with Cal Football.
