He's got enough skills, for sure, but not sure he's experienced enough to "go and cook"...the OLine needs to be better before anyone cooks anything - Mendo isn't exactly a running QB...It's one thing to have some nice passes to drive down the field, but those opportunities go way inside the 20...and we can't run the ball at all. If we can run it, then give Mendo a chef's hat. Watching Cal is pretty much like watching the NY Jets.

I so love this kid…he is inspirational, adorable, smart, compassionate, selfless, caring, kind, …a great representative for Cal football and the university. Also, would love to introduce him to my daughter! She is a huge football fan too! 💛🐻💙🏈💛🪓💙

Awesome! Next video should give the defense a little love. Nohl Williams the INT machine? Or maybe the ILB combo of Uluave and Buchanan?

I am a huge Uluave fan, and I loved Buchanan when he played for Davis, so I have started story boarding a few projects for them. But I fear my bias towards my favorite defensive players has made it difficult to progress due to things not being “good enough”. I’ll get the eventually

Love it! My old brain has trouble transitioning as fast as the images, but I get it. Go Nando! He's obviously one of the most unique and charming QB talents we've ever had. It's not him or his arm that has us losing the last three games.

He’s definitely severely overlooked for how good he has been. Beef up that line up and make sure they’re disciplined and he’ll be in contention for some hardware I just know it

Ott-To-Go was an instant classic. Nando for president... but this is pretty tough. Let's kick NC State to the curb and get on a run, it won't be this song that makes it happen. Ott-To-Go Forever -- Roan is all the things.

Oh don’t be a wet blanket.

There’s no doubt Ott to go is the superior and ultimate Cal song. Ott to Go was a passion project of 4 people that involved weeks of work rewriting an entire song into a catchy and funny parody and producing vocals and music video. This one is a project I put together in a couple days as a funny spin on a meme trend from a while ago. Cant compare the two in my opinion but I’m certain the next big project I take with the song team will send it right up with Ott to go in the stratosphere.

Modern music is...simply not inspiring, at all.

Maybe Callie can whip up a Mozart video for the senior set.

With enough defensive highlights and the 4th movement of Dvorak’s 9th Symphony, I can do anything. Won’t be quite as entertaining for the younger crowd but…perhaps it’ll be a Write For Cal exclusive lol.

It would be a brave New World.

(Nando World Symphony?)

I disagree, knowing the backstory of the song’s creation and Kesha’s career, but that’s a dissertation length discussion for another day.

I do think you’ll like my next video project though, entirely different direction and kind of music from this one.

how about #LetNandoBreathe ?

We’ll get there eventually lol. Nando has made a ton of improvements to his game, just need to get the line to the same level.

Yeah we're fully in the bizzaro Dykes era now.. Remember back when every opposing QB had their career day against us.. now instead it's the opposing DE/edge rusher having theirs.

I expect to see a few half rolls to the right side to keep Mendoza upright.

Expand full comment

Yea. How about wingback right side, motions to left, full head of steam when ball hiked, hits DE and is then available for outlet pass in flat

The ACC youtube channel had a nice highlight reel of Mendoza from the Pitt game. "Cal quarterback Fernando Mendoza once again proved that he could move the ball up and down the field." Still don't understand why he wasn't named first game starter for the past two seasons.

Welp, last year it was a veteran and a high-ceiling mobile QB ahead of him. You may be forgetting some of Nando's growing pains last year, such as indecisiveness, turnovers, and, still a problem- slide, please.
